    Runway Shoes: Chanel Fall/Winter 2010 – 2011

    LFI CHANELSHOW109 Runway Shoes: Chanel Fall/Winter 2010 2011

Looks like Karl Lagerfeld is anticipating a new ice-age: Chanel’s shoe collection for Fall/Winter 2010 is heavy on fur boots (it’s fake, for those who were wondering) and other winter warmers.

I’ll pass on the boots, but I do rather like the black pumps worn with what I’m assuming are detachable spats (if they’re actually attached to the shoe, then cancel that result…): a great way to make an ordinary pair of court shoes a little more weather proof. You’ll find some more images from the show in the gallery below: don’t forget to tell me what you think!

Lordy! These shoes have moustaches! What was I just saying about shoes with moustaches?

Granted, this was a runway show, and so you can expect things to be a little more (or sometimes a LOT more) stylised than the shoes that’ll eventually go on sale, but whereas the Alexander McQueen shoes I showed you yesterday were ugly in an “at least its creative” kinda way, these ones from the Louis Vuitton show are ugly in an … ugly kind of way.

Of course, I’m not a fan of LV shoes at the best of times, so my reaction is to be expected.

The Shoes from the Shows: Yves Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2010

yves saint laurenet shoes The Shoes from the Shows: Yves Saint Laurent Spring Summer 2010

Moving away from the giant platforms they’ve focused on for the past couple of seasons, Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection is a little more feminine, being chock-full of flowers. They’re flowers with a difference, though, because these ones come complete with branches and thorns: the shoes on the left of the picture have a “branch2 for a heel, and the ones in the middle look like they’re covered in thorns. Even the red shoes on the right have something of a “wilting rose” look about them!

I guess it makes a change from all of the platforms, but what do you think of these?

chanel shoes spring 2010 The Shoes from the Shows: Chanel Spring/Summer 2010It’s hard to concentrate on the shoes here, because I’m finding myself distracted by what’s on the models legs. I mean, what IS that? Are they tights, or is it some sort of makeup? I’m not sure, but in the case of the picture on the far right, it looks a lot like the model went out in the sun in shoes that wind up the legs, and ended up with some interesting tan lines. Hmm.

Anyway, onto the shoes. This is an eclectic bunch: I hate the clumpiness of the clogs, and I’m not particularly sold on the “unicorn horn” heel that showed up on a couple of different styles in this show, ether. As for the shoes in the middle, they’re my favourites of the bunch but I’d need to see them in close-up to know for sure whether I actually like them or not.

    What do you think?

The Shoes from the Shows: DSquared2 at Milan Fashion Week S/S 2010

LFI DSQUARED10 2 The Shoes from the Shows: DSquared2 at Milan Fashion Week S/S 2010

For those who like their shoes (and their fashion shows) to come with a great big dollop of drama, DSquared2′s runway shows are always a lot of fun. Check out the studded platform sandals above, for instance: even I wouldn’t necessarily fancy walking too far in them, but they’re great to look at, as are the bright yellow ankle boots you’ll find under the jump:

Shoes from the Shows: fringed boots at Dolce and Gabbana S/S 2010

Knee-high boots aren’t something I tend to associate with summer (although after the “summer” we’ve just had, I’m not really sure why not), but Dolce and Gabbana showed boots with everything at their Milan Fashion Week show this week, so maybe that’s about to change. This particular pair were worn with a short denim jumpsuit  (you know, as you do), and are really quite spectacular, with the fringing having an animal print on it, just to add to all of the other detailing.

Take a look under the jump to see the full look…

The Shoes from the Shows: Marc Jacobs S/S 2010 at London Fashion Week

The Shoes from the Shows: Marc Jacobs S/S 2010 at London Fashion Week

Those of you who don’t like heels, take heart: Marc Jacobs sent almost all of his models down the runway at his New York Fashion Week show this week in flip-flops or flats, so maybe next summer is going to be an altogether more casual affair than this one was, with all of those high heeled gladiator sandals!

Of course, this being Marc Jacobs, these were no ordinary flip flops: the ones shown above have an odd kind of “overhang”, which makes it look a little like the model’s heel is hanging over the too-small sole. I suspect this won’t go down well with many of you, but of course you can feel free to prove me wrong! One more under the jump…
