Runway Shoes: Valentino Couture Fall 2010

Well, it looks like the kitten heel is definitely making a comeback: almost all of the shoes in Valentino’s Fall 2010 Couture show featured smaller-than-usual heels, which seems to suggest that the kitten-heel revival will continue for another season at least.

It’s no secret that I adore Valentino, and while I don’t adore kitten heels, I could very easily be persuaded by these ones, which have that ladylike, 50s vibe about them, topped with some of the most fabulous embellishments. Imagine them with full-skirted prom dresses, pillbox hats or capris: perfect!

Feather embellishments give these an exotic feel.

The same shoe from the side.

A completely feathered upper for a decadent feel. And if the ladylike look is still too prim for your tastes…

Add a leather spat with bows all the way down the calf. I think I’ll give that one a miss. As the perfect finishing touch, though:

These have to be amongst the least practical gloves ever made, but that doesn’t stop me wanting a pair.

What do you think?

  • I do think the first pair would be quite pretty with a larger heel, so as to not remind me of overly elaborate bedroom slippers. I personally wouldn’t wear any of these, however.

  • the crystal embellished ones look really difficult to keep on. I love kitten heels, they allow all 6ft of me to look elegant without looking over powering! πŸ™‚

  • I like a kitten heel – gives me a little extra style without much extra height. Have to agree with Louise, though. These don’t have enough vamp to keep them on. You’d either lose them walking down the hall or you’d have that horrible slap-slap noise.

  • I agree there is just not enough shoe to keep these things on your feet! Except for those boots, in which case there’s a little *too much* shoe.
