With the exception of a couple of pairs of rubber boots, these shoes are all variations on the same theme: brightly coloured uppers, huge raffia platforms and giant corsages on the ankles. Some styles have open toes and some have closed, but they’re all still super-summery, and instantly memorable. I even like the rubber boots, although a cork sole on a rain boot seems like one of the least logical combinations ever.

Milan Fashion Week has been underway for a few days now, so I thought it was time I took a look at some of the footwear from the runways, kicking off with Prada’s Spring 2011 collection.
The first thing to note here is that those brogues I was talking about earlier today are back for Spring, only this time they come with a huge, built-up creeper-style platform heel. I like them even less than I like regular old lace-up brogues, but I must admit, I’d love to see the mirrored platforms shown above in real life, if only for giggles.
The rest of this collection is pleasantly summery, with woven uppers and a nice mixture of colours. Take a look at the gallery below and tell me what you think!
Shoes are rarely the focus of things at New York Fashion Week, which can be dissapointing for those of us who love them. Once exception to that rule, however, is Lela Rose, who preiewed her Spring 2011 collection for Payless in NYC this week. Take a look under the jump for a preview of the styles you can expect to find in Payless next Spring! Continue reading →
The Tommy Hilfiger label is better known for clothes than for footwear, but some of the Spring 2011 runway shoes caught my eye as I flicked through the runway shots this morning. These are very preppy, very nautical, and, of course, very Tommy Hilfiger. They’re also very summery, although I’m much keener on the shoes than I am on the ankle boots. Take a look under the jump for some more. Continue reading →
Well, it looks like the kitten heel is definitely making a comeback: almost all of the shoes in Valentino’s Fall 2010 Couture show featured smaller-than-usual heels, which seems to suggest that the kitten-heel revival will continue for another season at least.
It’s no secret that I adore Valentino, and while I don’t adore kitten heels, I could very easily be persuaded by these ones, which have that ladylike, 50s vibe about them, topped with some of the most fabulous embellishments. Imagine them with full-skirted prom dresses, pillbox hats or capris: perfect!
While Dior went for strappy evening sandals for their Fall Couture show this week, KarlĀ Lagerfeld kept things a little more downbeat at Chanel, with a collection of strangely wrinkled looking ankle boots.
These are, at least, a little more practical for wintry weather, but, well, take a look and tell me what you think…
I love the Dior Couture show: it’s always such an extravagant spectacle of a show that it’s a real sight for sore eyes.
This year the clothes may have been on the fantastical side, but the shoes were very wearable, consisting of a selection of strappy sandals in vibrant colours, and with elaborate, twined heels. I love all of these: take a look at the gallery below and let me know what you think!
I had hoped to bring you a slightly larger selection of the shoes from Chanel’s Cruise Collection, shown this week in St. Tropez, but most of the models walked the runway barefoot, poor things. Georgia May Jagger (above), meanwhile, was even less fortunate in that she clearly drew the short straw and ended up wearing these curious spat/boots which just don’t look too flattering to me, even on a model.
Still, I do have some Chanel footwear to show you today, so take a look at the gallery below, and don’t forget to tell me what you think!
