Ruby Shoesday # 8: Storage Solutions

(Christian Louboutin Very Very wedges with River Island tank, H&M skirt, thrifted belt)

Well, would you look at this, me posting a Ruby Shoesday photo featuring a red-shoes outfit I am actually wearing on the designated Tuesday! There will be no stopping me now. Next thing you know, I’ll up and do something else radical, like actually finishing my Shoe Challenge or something. Just you watch.

Anyway, today I decided to open a shoe store. Can I help you find a size, ma’am?

I jest, of course. Actually, what happened was that Shoeperman went out to a meeting, and I decided to take full advantage of his absence by investigating some new storage options for my shoe collection. I say “some” new options: I pretty much stopped after this one, because why would I keep on searching when all the space I need is right here? Well, almost all the space I need: that’s obviously not my full collection, and I don’t think those shelves would accommodate every shoe I own, but still, it’s a start, isn’t it? And I’m sure we could find space for some more shelves somewhere. What else are bathrooms for, for instance?

In lieu of Ruby Shoesday, a video…

The Piano – Florida 2010 from Terry Miaoulis on Vimeo.

So, I totally fail at Ruby Shoesday. Oh, I can wear the shoes, no problem at all. But I can never find the time to set up the camera and take photos, and download them, etc, and I guess that’s one more reason why I’m a shoe blogger rather than a personal style blogger.

Anyway! I promise to do better next week, and, as a tenuous link to Ruby Shoesday, there’s a a brief glimpse of a pair of Ruby Shoes (by Christian Louboutin*, no less) in this video Shoeperman made to sum up how much we’re missing Florida. If you look really closely, you may catch a glimpse of the ones I bought in the background…

    * They were $3,500, reduced to to $2,500, so obviously I had to try them on, just to see what it feels like to walk in $3000 shoes. It felt… well, actually it felt vaguely uncomfortable, because they were a size too big, but it ALSO felt like I could’ve clicked my heels together and not been in Kansas Florida any more, Toto.

    Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 31 – Ruby Shoesday-ish

    What: Red nautical peep toes
    When: June 2010
    Where: Shopping and dinner
With: Blue pindot dress (gifted); sunglasses (Gucci)

Can we pretend this is my Ruby Shoesday post for the week, even although the pool, sunshine, and fact that I’m wearing something other than layers of woolies proves that this photo definitely wasn’t taken here in the UK?

Can we also pretend I’m not, once again, flashing an almost indecent amount of thigh here? I promise the dress was less revealing when I wasn’t sprawled by the pool in it:

    Ruby Shoesday # 6 : Presidential

(Shoes and playsuit, both Matalan. Hat, Topshop.)

Confession: these photos were actually taken last week, but how about I promise to wear the same outfit again today, and we’ll call it quits?

President Obama says that’s fine with him:

He also asks that no one mention his eerie resemblance to the George Bush figure the Hall Of Presidents used to have sitting outside, and which I suspect may have had some cosmetic surgery to turn it into Obama. Moving on…

Next to the Hall of Presidents is the Citrus Tower, which has views all over central Florida:

It’s not actually all that high, but it still terrified me, because I’m scared of anything higher than a 5″ heel:

I know it looks like I’m just posing for the camera here, but I spent a lot of time with my back pressed to the centre of the tower, convinced it was falling over. Yes, I’m pathetic. Apparently my shoeper powers stop working at a certain altitude…

Afterwards, we took a walk around the town of Mount Dora:

What: New Look red bow flats
    When: May 18th, 2010
Where: hairdressers, a walk in the sun
With: Striped dress (George); belt (gifted)

It’s sunny! And not just sunny, but actually WARM, too! I celebrated by throwing aside the jeans and trousers I’ve been living in, and throwing on a dress. These shoes are my “emergency” red flats, worn in honour of  Ruby Shoesday, and I’m happy to report they were a little more comfortable today than they were last time I wore them. A good day all round: now hopefully the sun will stick around for a while and let me start working my way through my Shoe Challenge sandals!

An out-take. Note to self: no, it wouldn’t be cool to try to walk along the top of that fence…

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 22 and Ruby Shoesday: Spots and Stripes

shoe challenge 22 Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 22 and Ruby Shoesday: Spots and Stripes

What: Red polka dot peep toes, Matalan
    When: Tuesday, April 27
Where: Mostly running around trying to get my car fixed
With: Top (eBay); cropped trousers (Dorothy Perkins)

Why, yes, I DO seem to have a lot of red shoes from Matalan, don’t I?

Just a very quick Ruby Shoesday post today, because I’ve spent most of the day driving around to different garages: today was the dreaded MOT day (For the benefit of non-UK readers, this is the annual inspection all cars must have in order to be legal to drive), and of course my beloved old banger failed, which meant we had to find another garage who can do the repairs it needs to pass the test. So, a fun Tuesday, basically, and I’m guessing probably an expensive one, too. I don’t have the quote yet for repairs, but don’t car parts ALWAYS seem to cost the earth? Sigh.

Anyway, because of all of these fun times, I’m now really behind with work and only had time to snap a couple of quick pictures. I think of these as my Minnie Mouse shoes. And yes, they have polka dots on them. OF COURSE they do!

p.s. Can you believe this top was advertised as a DRESS? I mean, I’m only 5″3, but the fact I can tuck it into my trousers without any excess fabric to worry about speaks volumes!

red slingbacks Ruby Shoesday and Shoeper Shoe Challenge #20: Hello, Sailor!

    What: Red canvas slingbacks (Matalan)
    When: Tuesday, April 20th, 2010
    Where: Nowhere in particular
    With: Criminal Damage sailor dress

I feel like I’m cheating a bit with this week’s Ruby Shoesday because I’ve worn this outfit before here, but I woke up this morning with a sore throat and the beginnings of a cold, so it was either go with something tried and tested or go with, er, my dressing gown, which is what I secretly wanted to wear.

Anyone else doing Ruby Shoesday today? What are you wearing?

Ruby Shoesday/ Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 16: Out of Time

dorothy perkins shoes Ruby Shoesday/ Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 16: Out of Time

What: Red Dorothy Perkins shoe boots
    When: Tuesday, April 6th, 2010
Where: Working and visiting brother and sister-in-law
With: Dress and cardigan, both H&M; belt, “thrifted” from my mother’s closet

I’m totally starting to feel like I’ve slipped into a completely different season from everyone else in the country. Up until yesterday, there were still patches of snow on the ground in our street, and it’s still cold enough for me to have put off getting out my Spring clothes for another week at least. Everyone else, however, seems to have decided that as the calendar says it’s Spring, bare legs and arms are the order of the day, so I’ve started to feel like a bit of a freak in my opaque tights and woolly cardis, although I value the warmth they bring enough to not want to put them away just yet.

This outfit was in honour of Ruby Shoesday, and I’ve tried to at least give a nod to the “changing” seasons by wearing a summery dress with… a woolly cardigan, opaque tights and boots. Ah, well…
