These shoes may not seem the most exciting footwear ever, but they’re the kind of heels that have the potential to become real wardrobe workhorses. A classic shape, with a dressed-up, shimmery upper, they’re that fabled “day-to-night” shoe the magazines are always telling us about. Plain enough to wear all day, but with that special shimmer to take you through to evening, they’re also neutral enough to work with everything: see what I mean by “wardrobe workhorse”?

I’m a huge fan of metallic shoes anyway, but these ones particularly caught my attention because the upper is rose gold, as opposed to regular old yellow gold. The distinction isn’t a huge one, but it does give these a bit of a pink undertone, which is warmer, and a little more summery than regular gold or silver. I really like the colour, and although the shape is nothing to write home about, that rounded toe and high – but not TOO high – heel, makes for a nice, classic silhouette.

It’s fair to say that there’s not much you COULDN’T wear with such a neutral shoe, but I’ve decided to go with an equally neutral outfit:

trousers // sweater // trench // bag // sunglasses

This is a look I’ve been meaning to try for a while now. The head-to-toe neutrals look isn’t always an easy one to pull off – and not just because you’re at much greater risk from spillages and stains than you would be in something darker! – but I really like it, and think it has a very luxurious feel to it, especially when paired with the shimmery shoes. And everyone can use a good trench coat, right?
