Christian Louboutin red pointed toe court shoes

    Christian Louboutin Iriza, £439.55

This is Iriza, and it’s another great example of Christian Louboutins skill at re-inventing the wheel: or, in this case, the pointed-toe pump.

Ever since pointed toes started to become fashionable again, I’ve talked a lot about the “new” pointed toes, and how they differ from the “old” ones: mostly in terms of the shorter toe, and lower-cut vamp. These shoes, however, look to me like they could’ve stepped right out of an episode of Sex and the City: everything from the d’orsay cut upper to the elongated toe reminds me of the footwear of the late 90s/early 00s… just that little bit better. Or, OK, maybe a LOT better: I loved these shoes on sight, and I normally don’t like toes to be quite this long. These shoes, however, have a real elegance about them, and the low sides are classic Louboutin, which always works for me.

These also come in leopard print, and are available to pre-order at Neiman Marcus, with an expected ship date of early August. Get them here.

On another note, Monday is yet another public holiday here in the UK, and I have a ton of stuff to take care of away from the blog ahead of my upcoming vacation in a few weeks time, so I’ll be taking the day off, and will be back on Tuesday, with more shoes for you to admire (or not, as the case may be!). I hope you all have a lovely weekend, whatever you’re doing!

  2. Mel heart-front heels in blue and red

    blue shoes with heart

    Mel heart pumps, $74.99

The second I laid eyes on these shoes, I thought how much they reminded me of the very first collection of Vivienne Westwood for Melissa ‘Lady Dragon’ shoes. The baby blue and red shoes from that line have always been one of the “ones that got away” for me: I absolutely loved the colour combination, and really wish I’d bought a pair when they were released, but c’est la vie!

Unsurprisingly, then, these shoes are actually by the same brand: Mel is Melissa’s slightly lower-priced diffusion line, and these obviously draw inspiration from the original Lady Dragons, both in terms of the colours and the hearts. The shape, meanwhile, is the one used on Melissa’s “Skyscraper” pumps, which I’m sure fans of the brand will be familiar with.

So, what do you think of these? My guess is that if you loved the Lady Dragons you’ll at least like these, although they lack the elegance of the peep toe style. (For most people, I think the main attraction of the Lady Dragon shoe is the embellishment on the toes, but I also think the narrow shape of the shoe underneath is very flattering, and lovely in its own right.) If you’re in the camp which shudders at the very thought of plastic shoes, however, you’ll probably be less enamoured with these, and I definitely think they’ll be harder to wear than their peep-toed sister, mostly because they look a little bit like toys – or is that just me?

At the time of writing, these aren’t yet in stock, but they’re due in soon at Modcloth, where they’ll retail for $74.99.

  3. Dolcis floral print platform pumps

    floral print platform shoes

    Dolcis platforms, £35

This is the second pair of floral-print shoes I’ve shown you today, so while the weather may not be exactly Spring-like here in the UK, at least the footwear is!

These Dolcis platforms are a little more typical than the Dune slingbacks I featured earlier today, and have fabric uppers and a concealed platform. I have a pair of floral platforms in a similar colour scheme (although with a different print), and I find that they go with most things, and are a really easy way to add a summery touch to anything I choose to wear them with.

These shoes, meanwhile, are never going to be the most exciting heels you’ll ever own, but for £35, they could be a useful addition to your shoe closet, and if you’re not keen on the colours used in this particular print, there’s also a black version which might be more to your taste.

  4. Blink navy and white stripe platforms with bow

    stripe platform shoes with bow

    Blink platforms, £62

You know, I think there are almost too many pairs of stripe shoes around right now. Seriously, how is a shoeperhero supposed to resist them all?

I HAD thought it would be fairly easy for me to resist the next pair of platform pumps that crossed by radar. The style is, after all, starting to look a little less contemporary now that shoes with “regular” soles have taken over again, and even if it wasn’t, it’s not like I don’t have enough pairs of platforms already.

I don’t have these ones, though. And these ones check all of my boxes for the perfect “nautical” pump, with their navy and white stripes, their shiny red stiletto heel, and that generously-sized bow on the toe. As if all of that wasn’t enough, these shoes also occupy that very dangerous price range which is cheap enough to be affordable, but still high enough that I’d had have a hard time justifying it when I’m SUPPOSED to be saving up for a new house.

I’m going to do my very best to try to forget I ever saw these shoes once I’ve hit the “publish” button on this post. If you have £62 burning a hole in your pocket, and a need for a pair of stripey platform shoes, however, you can find them at Littlewoods.

  5. Dune ‘Dearest’ metallic floral print slingbacks

    floral slingback shoes

    Dune ‘Dearest‘, £89

I’ve been really impressed by Dune’s Spring/Summer collection this year, as you might have guessed from the frequency of the brand’s appearance here. At a time when a lot of shoes are starting to feel a bit “samey” (Single-strap sandals, for instance, are hugely popular right now, but there’s only so much you can do with them before they all start to blend into each other!), Dune have managed to keep things fresh and interesting, and that’s definitely the case with these ‘Dearest’ slingacks.

Floral print shoes are, of course, nothing new (especially at this time of year), but I think this might be the first time I’ve seen a metallic pair. It’s a combination that sounds like it shouldn’t really work, but I actually think the silver upper makes these slingbacks really special. A non-metallic shade would still have looked good, but the silver backdrop to the floral upper really dresses these up, and gives them a subtle sheen which is really pretty.

These have a very delicate feel to them, and would be perfect for something like a summer wedding: you can’t go wrong with a good ol’ floral print in that kind of situation!

  6. J Jasper Conran Striped Satin Court Shoes

black and white stripe court shoes

black and white stripe bow on heel of shoes

    Jasper Conran pumps, £52

The J by Jasper Conran collection is a line that doesn’t get nearly enough attention here at ShoeperWoman.com. Not only are the price points very affordable (especially compared to some other high street brands), every time I decide to have a browse through the shoes on offer, I always seem to find something I love.

Today, that something came in the form of these black and white satin pumps, which feature a beautiful bow on the heel. That sentence alone is probably more than enough to tell you why I’m so keen on these, but just in case you’re still in the dark, all you need to do is take another look at that heel. The black and white stripes are very much on trend this season, it’s true, but I’d like them even if they weren’t, and a bow on a heel is pretty much guaranteed to win the shoeper seal of approval.

These shoes have satin uppers, and a 4.25″ stiletto heel, and although the monochrome colour scheme gives them a bit of trend appeal right now, I think they’re classic enough to stand the test of time: or a few good parties, at the very least.

  7. Dorothy Perkins mink bow court shoes

    mink bow court shoes

    Dorothy Perkins pumps, £32

I wrote about Dorothy Perkins’ DP Occasion collection last week, and now here’s another lovely pair of shoes from the same line.

When it comes to special occasion shoes, you can go one of two ways: you can either grab the excuse to wear the most extravagant, party-appropriate pair you own (Well, when else are you going to get the chance to wear shoes coated in glitter or sequins, after all?), or you can choose  a more understated option, to let the rest of your outfit do the talking.

The option you choose will, of course, depend on what you’re planning to wear WITH the shoes (I hear there are some people out there who choose their shoes to go with their outfits, rather than the other way around: strange!) (That was a joke, by the way…), but if you’re going with the second choice, I think these could be a lovely accessory to a beautiful dress. They won’t steal any attention away from it, but they’re still very pretty in their own right, and I really like the little double-bow detail on the toe.

But what about that dress I keep mentioning? What WOULD you wear with mink coloured shoes? Well, I think these would work with most jewel tones, or even black/navy, but personally I’d go for something like this:

    lace pencil dress

    Lace pencil dress, Warehouse

What would you wear with these?

  8. Jimmy Choo ‘Tame’ green suede crystal embellished pumps

Jimmy Choo green suede shoes with crystal heel

green crystal heel and sole by Jimmy Choo

green suede high heel shoes by Jimmy Choo

    Jimmy Choo ‘Tame’, £1,495

These shoes are called ‘Tame’, which is a little bit of a misnomer, because they’re really anything BUT. In fact, that gem-studded heel, sole and toe is actually a bit on the wild side, don’t you think?

These shoes are another example of a look I’ve really come to love, namely the glitter/jewelled sole. We saw a fair bit of this last winter, and as I said then, I think it makes for a more subtle (but still glamorous) effect than if the same techniques were applied to the upper. In the case of these shoes, not only do I love the colour (they also come in beige, for those of you who don’t), I also really like the way the Swarovski crystals go all the way from the tip of the toe to the end of the heel, almost as if the bottom of the shoe has been crafted from one single, bejewelled sheet of leather.

The fact that these are Swarovski crystals, however, is a sure sign that the price is going to be as high as the heel is. These are £1,495, and available direct from Jimmy Choo.
