I can’t quite believe it’s taken me this long to get round to showing you these amazing polka dot shoes by Sophia Webster. I mean, it’s my favourite print. My favourite shape. One of my favourite colour combinations. It’s… NOT my favourite heel height, however. That must be it. That explains why these have been available at Net-a-Porter for weeks now, without me declaring them to be Shoe Kryptonite. Well, I’m STILL not going to declare them to be Kryptonite. Don’t get me wrong: I love them, and would happily wear them until they fell apart. They fall just short of being Kryptonite, however, because at 3.5″, they also fall slightly short of my idea stiletto height, which would be somewhere in the region of 4″. Yes, I know, I’m quibbling over half an inch here, and you’re right – it’s really not that important, especially when every other aspect of the shoe is just right.
Give me polka dots, and I can generally be relied upon to try and pair them with MORE polka dots (Can you ever have too many? Well, probably YES, actually, but that’s never stopped me in the past...). In this case, however, I’ve hone for what is, for me, a fairly restrained look, with just two doses of dots: I think that should be enough for anyone, don’t you? This little cardigan is from New Look, and is a bargain at just £12.99: while it creates a nice, retro-inspired look with the full skirt (for a similarly 50s feel, try a pencil skirt or cropped black pants instead), it would look equally good worn more causally with jeans – as would the shoes, for that matter.
What do you think of these shoes?
