Christian Louboutin Ginza 140 cutout leather slingbacks

christian louboutin ginza Christian Louboutin Ginza 140 cutout leather slingbacks

A dotty design with a difference: Christian Louboutin’s Ginza 140 slingabacksuse cutout circles on the bronze leather uppers to create an vaguely pop-art effect. I love the combination of the bronze upper and wooden heel/sole on these, and think it would make a nice alternative to the ubiquitous “nude” for summer: while these may not immediately strike you as the most versatile shoes in the world, on a foot the effect is actually more subtle than you’d think, with just a touch of pizazz.

These are £535 at Net-a-Porter: click here to buy them.

Every time I look at the Karen Millen website, I chastise myself for not looking at it more often. I mean, look at what I almost missed:

Not only are these shoes a beautiful shade of silver blue, the bow is also one of the nicer ones I’ve seen recently: it has something of the Ted Baker ‘Keanah’ about it, and gives the shoe a real “special occasion” feel, which would make these perfect for a wedding, or other event.

These are £125: click here to buy them at Karen Millen.

Red Herring light pink sequin bow flats

It’s not often I find myself drooling over a pair of flats – in fact, I think this may be a first – but I like these Red Herring ones so much that I think some drooling may be in order, don’t you?

These are just so pretty and girlie that it would be hard for me not to like them. The pale pink upper and matching glitter bows have a very delicate, “special occasion” kind of feel, but while these would be perfect party shoes for those of you don’t want to wear heels, one of the other advantages of flats is that they’re a little easier to “dress down” than heels: I can just as easily imagine wearing these with a pair of jeans and a plain white t-shirt as with a pretty party dress, and as they’re just £18, you needn’t feel too guilty about not keeping them for “best” either.

Moda in Pelle red and pink ‘Damsal’ peep toes

The bright, red and pink colour combo of last season is starting to die out a little, in favour of summer’s pastels. but it’s still popping up here and there, and these Moda in Pelle peep toes show that it hasn’t lost any of its impact: this brand had quite a few shoes I liked in their “new in” section this morning, but these were the ones that stood out, and it’s partly because that upper just can’t be ignored.

It’s only partly because of the colour, though: these shoes have a lot going for them other than that, and I also like the geometric pattern and the little knotted bow, while that block heel should make these walkable, despite the fact that they’ll add almost five inches to your height.

Like them? They’re £79.95 and you can click here to buy them at Moda in Pelle.

Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Alta campus 150mm shoes

christian louboutin alta campus Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Alta campus 150mm shoes

I’m not normally a big fan of shoes with very high vamps – they tend to truncate the foot a little, and make me look stumpier than I really am, which, when you’re just a touch under 5”4 is the last thing you need – but I’m making an exception for Christian Louboutin’s Alta Campus peep toes, because… I really don’t need to explain this one, do I?

I do? OK, well in short, these shoes are just a really nice mix of preppy and sexy. I like the way the loafer-style upper contrasts with the curvy high heel, and the colour is a not-too-bright rust red that works nicely with the style.

The perfect shoe for a sophisticated, college-girl look? Well, they may be a little too much for an actual college, but if that’s the look you’re going for, these are £645, and you can click here to buy them.

Paris Hilton ‘Sharri’ pink peep toe bow pumps

These shoes are a good example of the difference colour can make to a shoe. They’re also available in a black and white upper, you see, and while that one doesn’t appeal to me at all (and I say that as someone with a soft-spot the size of China for shoes with that particular colour combination), this pink/tan version very much does. Oh yes.

These combine brogue styling on the heel, combined with a very feminine pink bow and soft blush upper: again, it’s that juxtaposition of “sensible shoe” and “totally non-sensible shoe”, and it’s been done pretty well.

One more good thing about these: the price. They’re a not-too-terrifying $89.99, and you can buy them at Zappos.com.

two tone t bar shoes Ladeima by De Siena two tone t bar peep toes

Here’s an interesting take on the t-bar: I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one attached to a pump in quite this way, before!

These shoes are by De Siena, and I love the mix of black and blush pink on the upper: it’s a combination that never fails to give a shoe (or outfit, for that matter) a sophisticated feel, and the overall shape of these just adds to that impression.

    Then there’s the t-strap.

It’s a bit of an unexpected addition to this shoe, so I’ll be interested to hear what you all think of it. For myself, it was the element that persuaded me to click through and view more images of these, and that’s generally a good sign, although I do think these are ones for the “would need to see them on a foot” camp. And also ones for the “OK, they’re £400, why am I even thinking about this?” camp, to be completely honest.

What DO you think of them?

Zara turquoise chunky platform peep toes

These shoes look more teal than “turquoise” on my screen, but both of those colours are equally acceptable to me, so here they are anyway, and if you do happen to buy a pair, be sure to let me know which colour they are “in real life!”

Although these are really very simple, they stand out for three reasons: the chunky shape, the bright colour, and the squared-off toe shape:

zara teal peep toes Zara turquoise chunky platform peep toes

Now, square toes are my least favourite shape of all: I think they can give a shoe a very clumsy look, and I don’t know about you, but that’s not a look I tend to covert. I find them more acceptable on a peep toe than on a pump, though, and could probably live with these ones, if only because of the colour, and the satisfyingly chunky shape.

If you could live with them too, they’re £49.99 and you can click here to buy them from Zara.
