It’s hard for me to see these Paper Dolls platforms as anything other than wedding shoes. I’m not necessarily talking about shoes for the bride, although they’d definitely work nicely with a wedding dress, and I know an increasing number of brides are choosing shoes as their “something blue”. I see these more as bridesmaids shoes, though, or even wedding guest shoes: there’s just something about those satin uppers and embellished heels that makes me think weddings are what shoes like these were made for!
That’s not so say you couldn’t wear them anywhere else, though, obviously: pastel colours are always popular, but they’ve been particularly so this year, and these could easily work for any kind of evening event. The heel is the star attraction here, with that huge butterfly embellishment in gold for the pink version and silver for the blue. It’s a very pretty addition to an already sweet shoe, and although there’s nothing really out of the ordinary about the rest of the design, it works well, and makes good use of the platform sole, which we’ve been seeing a little bit more of lately.
Although wedding season is almost over, I’ve styled these with a summer wedding guest in mind, and I’ve chosen the pale blue version to have a play around with:
If you need another excuse to add these to your shopping bag, they’re currently on sale, and are down to £42 from the original £60 – so, needless to say, if you DO want a pair, you might want to act fast before they’re all sold out!
