Office were responsible for a large percentage of my shoe purchases last year, so I was both excited and nervous to see what they’d have to offer in 2017: excited for obvious reasons, and nervous because, honestly, I’m not sure how many more pairs of pointed court shoes I can justify at the moment. I mean, I’m doing my best obviously, but when your husband WILL insist on prioritising things like the mortgage and food bill instead of pursuing the goal of owning the same shoe in every available colour, you can see how a girl would struggle with that, can’t you? Ahem.
Anyway, I finally took the plunge this week and opened up the ‘new in’ section. Surprise, surprise, I immediately found yet another pair of pointed pumps which I now feel I can’t live without… even although I’d been living perfectly happily without them right up until the moment I saw them. It’s funny how that works, isn’t it? These shoes are basically another variation of the ‘On to Point’ pumps which I loved so much (and, er, BOUGHT so much) last year. There are, however, two important differences (which is why I’m successfully managing to tell myself that they’re TOTALLY different to all of the other black shoes I own…): the velvet uppers, and the pom pom on the toe.
Now, both of those details clearly mark these out as evening shoes, which is a bit of a bummer for me, because evening shoes are the very last thing I need right now. I do, however, love them: they have a bit of old-fashioned glamour to them, which makes me think they’d look amazing with some of my retro-inspired wiggle dresses. Can’t you just imagine Dita Von Teese wearing something like these? (Er, if Dita Von Teese shopped on the high street, that is…) I can: and I’d love to wear them too – if it wasn’t for that pesky mortgage I have to keep paying instead!
