Every brand has its strengths and its weaknesses. In Miss Selfridge’s case, its main strength is party wear. (Oh, and coats. Can’t forget all those amazing coats they’ve been putting out this season!)
This is one brand that really comes into its own every winter, with an awesome array of party dresses, sparkly tops, and, most importantly, shoes. I’ve been really impressed with Miss Selfridge’s shoe selection lately, and although I highlighted a few of my favourite pairs in my recent partywear roundup, I missed these ones, which are new to the site, and available in black and beige, both of which would make versatile choices to get you through the party season.
These feature an open toe with a 4.5″ heel, finished off with a wide, embellished strap, covered with large gemstones. It’s the strap that steals the show in this design, but, as with some of the best party shoes, they’re not so glitzy that they’ll overpower whatever you’re wearing with them.
Speaking of which:
This dress is by Jolie Moi, which is a brand which only really appeared on the Shoeper Radar this year, but which I’m planning to investigate further in 2015. They make some gorgeous, vintage-inspired pieces (and unlike some reproduction brands, they don’t charge a fortune for them, either), of which this is one of my current favourites. It’s very ‘Grace Kelly in Rear Window‘, I think, and that’s pretty much as good as it gets, as far as I’m concerned.
Although I’ve styled this for evening wear, the floral print skirt makes me think this dress would also look good on a summer night. The shoes, meanwhile, will work equally well all year round, and for any kind of special occasion.
