For reasons I can’t quite explain, and which I don’t expect anyone to agree with in any case, these shoes look really comfortable to me. I mean, not comfortable in the way slippers are comfortable, say. I wouldn’t want to run a marathon in them or anything (or in slippers, come to think of it…) but they do strike me as comfy-in-so-far-as-heels-can-ever-be-comfy, so I’m thinking I may well have to put that little theory to the test. I wonder if I can make up any MORE excuses like that to justify buying shoes?
Comfort aside, there are lots of things for me to love about these shoes. There’s the colour for one (I like both, and although the red probably has the edge, it’s a very close thing), but there’s also the knotted front, and the slingback. I know most of you will hate the ankle strap, as they tend to be universally reviled these days, but I actually don’t mind this one, and think it works pretty well with the shape of the shoe.

Ah you see I really like ankle straps – I think they can enliven a plain sandal really well. Not that these are plain, but you know what I mean. And in fact I think it’s the ankle strap that makes these look comfortable (I totally know what you mean, there) – they’ll stay on your feet, you’ll feel supported, and yes I want these now too. You’ve talked me into it 🙂
I don’t think I hate ankle straps specifically, for me it’s more about the positioning of the strap. I think ankle straps like this one hit my leg in exactly the wrong place, so I’m left with stubby legs (they’re very good at being short on their own, even without the extra help of a strap). That said, the nude version would make this objection obsolete, because it would blend in with my skin tone instead of cutting my leg off.

Me too! In real life, the shape of the heel makes them look more comfortable too, if anyone has seen the real thing? They’re gorgeous anyway!
This. Ankle straps can be lovely if they’re in the right place or nude. If they’re in the wrong place my legs look even shorter and fatter than they are. These shoes do look lovely though. I’d have to try them on. For me the comfort look to them is the soft looking suede uppers.
I have narrow feet, and even with insoles, heel grips, etc a lot of shoes tend to just slip of my feet as I walk, so I can’t really afford to hate ankle straps.
I don’t like the look of ankle straps when they seem to be added as an afterthought, but on this slingback design they work. They’re still leg-shortening though (and I don’t have the longest legs to begin with) so I still won’t be buying them. I think they look comfy because the fabric upper seems so soft, so at least they wouldn’t cut your feet.

Actually, I think a slingback like that with an ankle strap works really well. Love these shoes!
