Office ‘Kiss Chase’ pastel platform sandals

office kiss chase sandals Office Kiss Chase pastel platform sandals

I honestly don’t know what to make of these shoes. On the one hand, they’re certainly summery, and that goes a long way with me: I can forgive a shoe a lot if it at least makes me think of summer!

On the other hand, however, I’m a little worried about those flowers on the heel: as big a fan as I am of oversized embellishments, and as much as I like the pastel colours used here, they’re just a little bit awkwardly placed, and are going to both enlarge the ankle area and draw attention to it – not necessarily a good thing.

For me, then, these fall firmly into the “would have to see them on a foot” category. Other people have clearly been more decisive about them, though, because they’re already sold out in a few sizes at Office, where they’re £70: click here to find out if your size is still available.

Dune ‘Salute’ purple suede Mary Janes

purple suede mary janes Dune Salute purple suede Mary Janes

I thought the Dolce & Gabbana Mary Janes I showed you last week would be pretty hard to beat, but actually, this version by Dune comes a pretty close second: not only are they significantly cheaper, at £75, they also come in this glorious purple suede upper, which I find all but impossible to resist in a shoe.

These shoes don’t need any extra embellishments to make them stand out: the colour and shape speak for themselves, and this particular shade of purple will work just as well in the dull winter months as it will right now.

These are £75 at Dune: click here to buy them.

polka dot shoes Faith taupe spotted peep toe court shoes

These shoes are a bit of a strange juxtaposition of two styles: the satin, polka dot uppers suggest evening wear to me, but the brogue detailing on the toe says “stroll in the country”. Still, I guess I have to give Faith some credit here for doing something a bit different: with a satin upper, it would’ve been very easy for them to have simply gone with the usual bow/jewel embellishment, and as nice as that would’ve been, well, they say a change is as good as a rest, don’t they?

Is it a change that works, though? I wasn’t quite sure at first, but I love the colours (and of course, the print) on the upper, and that’s good enough for me.

If it’s good enough for you, too, you can find these at Debenhams, where they’re £60: click here to buy them.

    ASOS Sunrise suede effect wedges

Suede and raffia has (somewhat surprisingly) been one of the most popular combinations for wedges this summer, and ASOS’s ‘Sunrise’ pumps are one more example of that trend. At just £30 per pair, you can take it as read that the uppers are simply suede effect rather than the real thing, but as well as making them a little more affordable, it also makes them a little more practical -suede and raffia aren’t the hardest wearing fabrics for shoes, so at least this way you’ll worry less about ruining them!

I like the bright colours, the low heel and the almond toe on these and I also like the fact that they made them in my two favourite shoe shades; red and green!

White studded court shoes from Zara

zara white studded courts White studded court shoes from Zara

Just a couple of years ago, I hated white shoes – especially ones with pointed toes – to the extent that if you’d told me I’d one day consider wearing a pair of then, I’d have laughed, and thought you were a bit mad, really.

Lately, though, I’ve had a couple of occasions where I’ve been contemplating buying an item of clothing and have found myself thinking, “Hmm, I’d really need a pair of white shoes to go with that.” And trust me, I’m every bit as surprised by that as you are.

Which brings me to these Zara court shoes. They’re white. They’re pointed. And yet… I like them. I can even imagine wearing them, with either a patterned sundress, or maybe a pair of jeans. I think the fact that the white upper seems to have a bit of a pinkish tint to it helps (And let’s face it, I’m almost pale enough for white to be “nude” on me), and so do the studs, which mean you’re not looking at a glaring white canvas, so to speak.

What do you think of white shoes? And what you think of these ones? If you like them, they’re £39.99 and you can click here to buy them from Zara.

mid heel sandals Faith navy satin striped bow sandals

These shoes are a really good example of the phenomenon of “adjustment of the eye”. At first glance, you see, I assumed they had a mid-height heel, and got all excited thinking I’d finally managed to find a pair of lower heels that weren’t frumpy…Then I checked the product description and discovered they’re actually 4″. Which isn’t really all that low at all, is it? It just goes to show how quickly you get used to certain looks: a few years ago, these would’ve seemed reasonably high to me, but in today’s era of 6″ heels and huge platforms, however, I find myself wishing they were just a little bit higher. How times change!

That’s not to say I don’t like them the way they are, however: in fact, I like these a lot, and have been really impressed by most of Faith’s recent releases: it feels like the brand is finally starting to return to its former glory!

When it comes to evening sandals, black is a colour I tend to neglect a little, feeling like I really ought to go for something a little more adventurous. Sometimes you just can’t beat the classics, though, and these Karen Millen sandals are anything but boring, with  their gorgeous floral appliqué front:

Capture1 Kurt Geiger Carvela Anyone polka dot slingbacks

A black upper, covered in multicoloured dots, with a big ol’ bow on the front. Sounds like a shoeper kinda shoe, doesn’t it?

These are Carvela’s ‘Anyone’ pumps, and while they’re not my favourite polka dot shoe of the season (Don’t ask me what is, though: let’s just say it’s been a good year for women who love polka dots too much…), they are very cute, and as much as I love the brighter colours of Spring and Summer, it’s nice to see this kind of print on a black upper for a change, too.

These have a high stiletto heel with a correspondingly high platform sole, they’re also available in nude, and you can click here to buy them, for £100.
