Friday Fix | Christian Louboutin ‘Taclou’ spiked platforms

Christian Louboutin ‘Taclou‘, £585

I’ll be honest, ‘Taclou’ here isn’t my favourite pair of Louboutins ever, although there’s a good chance that might change if I tried them on in person: I have a feeling these might be the kind of shoes that photos just don’t do justice to.

In the interests of variety, though, and because there’s only so many pairs of pointy-toed Pigalle-alikes I can show you, here they are! These come in nude or black, and both colours have an amazing, red studded heel, giving them that “better from the back” look. I actually think that could be why I have reservations about these shoes: the front is fairly subdued, almost – dare I say it – dull, so the crazy studded heel seems like it belongs on a different shoe altogether somehow. Still, the chunky shape of it is very much in keeping with the equally substantial rounded toe and vamp, and although it’s 5″ high, it’s balanced out by the 1″ platform, giving you a walking height of just 4″.

The heel, of course, is the real (and perhaps the ONLY) talking point about these shoes, and when a heel is as bold and as beautiful as this one, you really don’t need much else, do you?

  • I saved a pair of my platform Louboutins last night and realised that I find them much more difficult to walk in than my other platform soles. I think the platform on Louboutins seems more rigid and that doesn’t fit my walking style. I had a pair of CL Bibis, which looks like the forerunner to this style, and had to sell them on as I just couldn’t make them work!
