If you’ve been reading this site for a while, I probably don’t need to explain my ongoing search for the elusive pair of red knee boots. This is a colour I think would work really well with my wardrobe, and make a nice change from black and brown, but while the colour itself isn’t totally elusive – I stumble across pairs of red knee boots every so often – finding the perfect shape to go with that colour is another matter. These knee boots from Faith are almost perfect: I love the shape, love the colour, love the contrast of leather and suede… The only thing I DON’T love is the calf-width: these look to me like they’re cut to be slightly slouchy, and I’ve learned to my cost that I just can’t pull that look off – I always just look like I’m wearing someone else’s boots – so while my own search continues, I do love the look of these (and am actually tempted to try them on, anyway: well, you never know, do you?).

The “slouchy sweater over midi skirt” look is another one I have trouble pulling off myself (so, anything with the word “slouchy” in it is pretty much out for me, basically), but it’s another look I love on other people, and this dark green colour is one of my favourites, so I couldn’t resist putting together an outfit based around it. Add a bit of tan, and you have a perfectly autumnal colour palette:
