A slightly simpler shoe from M. Louboutin this week…

I love a bit of colour-blocking, and these ‘Bianca’ slingbacks manage to combine black, white, blue and red in a way that’s fun, but not garish. That classic Louboutin slingback shape, meanwhile, keeps the overall look elegant. Want to see some more? Oh, go on then…

Marc Jacobs gold stacked wedges

These gold wedges will be too shiny for some tastes, but I’m rather fond of a metallic wedge, particularly in the summer. Not only are wedges some of the most comfortable shoes you’ll ever walk in, the colour of these Marc Jacobs shoes will work with everything (or almost everything), and they’ll go easily from day to night, too. I’m picturing them worn with a print dress, a few gold bangles and a martini, ideally on a yacht in St Tropez or somewhere equally glamorous, but you could just as easily throw them on with a little black dress for an evening out. Double bows win Marc Jacobs double the Shoeper points for these ones, too!

They’re $699 at Zappos.

Moschino red peep toes with bow detail

I wish Yoox.com had provided a photo of these Moschino peep toes from the back: they look like they just might be wonderful, in a rather kitsch, 80s way, but the bow on the heel is the stand-out detail, and you just can’t see it properly because of the angle of the photo. There also looks like there’s an odd little elastic strap at the heel which I can’t quite see the use for, so another photo (or seeing them in real life) would help clear up that little mystery too.

Those points aside, the more I look at these shoes, the more I like them. The shape of the peep toe is particularly nice, and these have something of a fairytale feel to them – or maybe I’ve just been reading too many ‘Alice In Wonderland’ themed press releases lately. Also, look! Stripes on the insole! That does it for me…

If it does it for you, too, these are £195 at Yoox, with a range of sizes still available.

Jimmy Choo Light-Up Platform Sandals

“Please don’t let them ACTUALLY light up,” I thought when I read the product name on these shoes. “Please let it just be a NAME, and not an actual description of what they do!” Because, although I know light-up heels are (or were – I don’t really follow these things) popular on children’s shoes, surely that’s where they should stay? Surely on a “grown up” shoe, a light-up heel would just look gimmicky and, dare I say it, tacky: neither of which are words I would usually associate with the Jimmy Choo brand?

People, the heels light up. They’re designed in much the same way as the light-up sneakers mentioned above, so that when your foot hits the ground, the heel will light up. And it’s a yellow heel. With a red sole. And I don’t know… I’ve read a few gushing reviews of these shoes from my fellow bloggers, but I think I’m going to have to be the voice of dissent here and say that this is just way too gimmicky for me to want to spend $2,495 on. I’d make a joke here about them “lighting up your life”, but I’m actually still in shock at having to write the words “Jimmy Choo” and “light-up heels” in the same sentence, so feel free to make up your own jokes there. Oh, and feel free to head over to Saks and buy them, too, if you so desire!

Brian Atwood Katie Lee patent sandals

I’ve spoken before of my dislike for clear plastic on shoes, but I’m going to be fickle here and say I think these Brian Atwood sandals are exactly the right way to do it, with the clear section at the end of the strap creating the illusion that the strap is shorter than it actually is, and creating a really nice, unusual effect. Without it, the sandals would’ve been just a tad on the “boring” side, but with it they’re a little less ordinary, and a versatile dress shoe.

They’re £390 at Net-a-Porter.

Elisa Sednaoui in Christian Louboutin boots

As beautiful as model Elisa Sednaoui is,  when I looked at this photo, I had eyes only for her shoes, which are Christian Louboutin’s knee-high mesh boots. Yes, mesh knee boots, you read that right. I guess they’re intended to be the perfect solution for people who want to continue wearing boots in warmer weather, and I can see how that would work, but I’m afraid these get the thumbs down from me. Here’s why:

Christian Louboutin 'Poseidon'

I’m almost definitely biased, but I don’t think there’s a shoe designer out there who does peep toes quite like Christian Louboutin.  And these ones? Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Christian Louboutin ‘Poseidon’ pumps, £1,195

Some of Nicholas Kirkwood’s designs can be a little too “out there” for some tastes (although personally I’d happily wear all of them, if I only had the cash!). These ones, however, are slightly more restrained than some of Kirkwood’s designs, and while they still have that trademark “rocking horse” platform sole, the rest of the shoe is suitably simple, so they should be easy enough to wear.

I love them, but do you? Get them for £455 at Far Fetch, if you do.

Yes, I know: the name of these shoes confused me, too, because although they’re called ‘Lace’, there doesn’t appear to be a scrap of lace on them. Instead, the uppers are made from a glitter-encrusted fabric, and as far as I’m concerned, if shoes HAVE to have glitter on them, then this is the way I’d like it to be done. These are pretty and sparkly, but don’t look like the result of a child’s art project, which is always a good thing when you’re talking about shoes that cost £325!

Would you be willing to spend £325 on them, though? If you would, you can buy them on the Jimmy Choo website.

Gina ‘Clair’ platform hoodie pumps

Just before we go any further here, I want to make it clear that “hoodie pump” isn’t my name for these shoes, it’s how Gina themselves have decided to describe them. It IS rather apt, though, because the gathered front on these does look a little bit like a hood of sorts, doesn’t it?

I’m in two minds about these shoes. In the black and cream versions, I think the gathered toe makes the shoe look like it’s been wrapped up in some kind of protective dust-cover, which the owner hasn’t bothered to remove before wearing them. The red version, however… well, the red version I rather like, and I somehow think it works a little better.

What do you think? These are £450 from Gina.
