Closet Essentials | Accessories

I don’t tend to wear a huge amount of accessories. I always intend to buy some more – or simply use the things I already have – but it’s just not my style to layer on lots of statement necklaces or other accessories, so I tend to keep things as simple as possible. The items I really couldn’t live without, however, include…

A good quality leather bag

A good quality handbag is well worth investing in: a cheap looking one can drag down your whole outfit. My most-used bag is in a pale, nude leather: it goes with everything, so I don’t have to constantly switch out my handbags.

A gold clutch

I’m  a big fan of the “clutch bag for daytime” look, but this style of bag becomes essential for evenings: I’ve chosen one in goes-with-everything gold.

Cat’s Eye Sunglasses

I wrote a few weeks ago about my sunglasses obsession, but for those who missed it, I have very light-sensitive eyes, so I’m never without my sunglasses.

Silk Scarves

I may not wear a lot of jewellery, but I make up with it for scarves, which have the ability to instantly glam-up a simple outfit: I also like to tie them to my bag when I’m not wearing them.

Wide waist belts

I have one particular wide black belt which I REALLY don’t think I could dress myself without. I wear it at least once a week, and love the way it defines the waist and adds a retro touch to my outfits.

Gold watch

A watch is  often the only piece of jewellery I’ll be wearing, other than my wedding and engagement rings, so it may as well make a bit of  a statement!

and finally…

Red lipstick

OK, so it’s not exactly a “closet essential”, but a swipe of red lipstick instantly peps up any outfit, so I wouldn’t be without it!

  • Looking at the first page (haven’t read through the entire post yet) I can already say two things: 1) I love all the items shown 🙂 and 2) I’d also add a large carry-all bag (it’s essential for uni students to carry around everything they own so I definitely use big bags the most)
