Cinderella Me: the designer shoe-hire site

Love designer shoes, but hate designer prices? Don’t we all. Cinderella Me, however, is a new site which aims to give us access to some of our favourite designer footwear for a fraction of the price on the box. The catch, however, is that you’re hiring the shoes rather than buying them, so you will have to persuade yourself to part with them at the end of the week!

The idea is similar to some of the designer dress hire companies that have been around for a few years now: you choose the shoes you want from a selection on the website (They carry brands like Christian Louboutin, Jimmy Choo, Dior, etc), and they’re sent to you to wear for a week, at the end of which time you send them back, ready for the next person. Prices are around £80 per week, although some shoes cost more and some cost less.

Now, I know what you’re thinking here, because I thought it too: what about hygiene? After all, the idea of wearing shoes that God knows how many other pairs of sweaty feet have already occupied isn’t exactly appealing is it? Worry not, though: the site goes to great lengths to assure clients that each pair of shoes is carefully cleaned and sanitised before it’s sent out, so the shoes should look and feel as good as new.

What does everyone think of this idea? Is it something you’d like to try, or would you rather just either save up the money and buy the shoes outright, or take the £80 and spend them on a pair of less expensive shoes instead?

Take a look at the Cinderella Me website here.

  • I do think it’s a good idea, especially for special occasions. However £80 a week is still rather expensive and personally I think I’d rather save the money and buy a less expensive pair of shoes; you can get gorgeous shoes that you can actually own for £80.

  • I’d rather buy them, even if it would take me a while. (I’m thinking about starting a little savings pot, just for shoes, like some people do to go on holidays and stuff)

They may not look like bowling shoes, but the idea still repulses me a bit. I prefer shoes that are mine, all mine. It is still pretty expensive, after all.

  • Unless we’re talking about hiring a pair of shoes that are going to cost me £2000+ to buy, £80 is way too much! I could get a new pair of Dune or Irregular Choice shoes for that, and I hesitate long enough over spending even THAT.

  • Hi,
Im currently making a documentary about this site and the idea of renting shoes so if any comes across this and has or is planning to rent out shoes from Cinderella Me and fancies being a part of the documentary then please get in touch!

    Thanks
