I know this is a blog about shoes rather than clothes (although that’s never stopped me before, has it?), but I just wouldn’t be me if I didn’t take a quick moment to tell you all how much I love The Duchess of Cambridge’s 50s style coat dress here, would I?

One of my favourite looks yet on her, I think, and I’ve been a fan of quite a few of ‘em! The dress is by Jesiré, which no longer exists, sadly, so although I did have a quick look online for it, I can’t help you there – Kate’s dress must be a vintage piece, or one she already owned. I CAN help you with the shoes, however, which are Jimmy Choo’s ‘Cosmic’ pumps, currently available at Net-a-Porter, although given that every other shoe The Duchess has worn has sold out almost instantly, these may not be there for long. Will the “Kate Effect” work on a pair of basic black pumps? We’ll soon find out, but the good news is that even if it does, you’ll be able to find plenty of much less expensive options if you’re looking for something similar.

I have to admit, I’m not really familiar with Jenna Dewan’s work as an actress. I am, however, familiar with her shoes, which are Casadei’s ‘Blade’ pumps, and although I’ve featured them before, in pale blue suede, I’m more than happy to have found an excuse to show you these again, because they’re just THAT beautiful.

Last time I wrote about this shoe, I said that it managed to look delicate and a bit dangerous, all at the same time. I think that’s even more the case with the red patent version, which adds a serious dose of sex appeal to the mix, in the way that only red patent and metal heels really can.

I also really like the sweetheart front on these shoes: it’s a detail you just don’t see often enough as far as I’m concerned!

You see these in various other colours at Casadei.

It’s a little bit of a shame (for us, although obviously not for her) that Sarah Michelle Gellar is walking towards the camera, rather than away from it, in this photo, because the back of this shoe is where all the action is. Or where all of the gold is, anyway.

These are B Brian Atwood‘s ‘Blayne’ pumps, which come with a black suede upper and gold leather heels. I feel like I’ve been a bit unfair to the front by focusing so much on that heel, so here are a couple more views for you:

Black pumps are so easily dismissed as “boring”, but sometimes all it takes is to see someone actually wearing them to change your mind: I must have seen these dozens of times on Shopbop, but this is the first time I’ve really stopped to look at them, and all because I finally got to see someone wearing them!

You all know by now how much I love Christian Louboutin’s ‘Pigalle’ pumps, don’t you? Seriously, I LOVE those shoes, and if I was rich, I’d buy them in every single variation M. Louboutin sees fit to release them in.

Even if I WAS rich, though, I’m pretty sure I’d rather buy my own shoes – and make sure they actually fit me properly – than borrow a pair of designer shoes that were much too big, like Rachel McAdams, seen here at the L.A. premiere of The Vow this week. I love Rachel McAdams, and I really love this outfit: the mint Vivienne Westwood dress is to die for, as are the shoes – I even like her new bangs. Every time I look at these photos, though, my eyes just keep going back to the ill-fitting shoes, which seem to be the norm for celebrities these days, and always make the woman wearing them look like they’re playing dress-up with their mother’s clothes, I think.

What do you think? Would you wear borrowed Louboutins, even if they were a size too big?

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that I’m a huge fan of a simple, skin-toned pump, and it looks like Kate Beckinsale is, too: here she is wearing a pair of Brian Atwood’s ‘Maniac’ pumps to a photocall for her new movie, ”Underworld: Awakening” in Madrid.

These shoes are a celebrity favourite, and have appeared on the red carpet numerous times now, on the feet of various stars: despite being very plain, they still somehow manage to be absolutely stunning…

Celebrity Shoes: Parker Posey in Vivienne Westwood toe shoes

If you’re a regular reader, you’ll probably know by now that I’m a huge Vivienne Westwood fan. Huge. But I just can’t get on board with the designer’s famous “toe shoes”, as seen this weekend on Parker Posey:

FP 8244351 WE Screening SCP 24 29 11 Celebrity Shoes: Parker Posey in Vivienne Westwood toe shoesIn fact, I would go so far as to say that I actively hate them. I know Dame Viv has been making them for years, so they presumably have a big enough fan base to keep on selling, but seriously, I hate them. So much. They always look to me like shoes which are about five sizes too small, and which the wearer’s feet are just busting out of. I may be a shoe fan, but I’m most definitely not a foot fan (Sorry, all you foot fetishists who keep writing to me thinking that because I love shoes I must also love feet: the two passions most definitely do not go hand in hand for me. Or foot in shoe, rather.), so these are just a huge turn-off for me.

What about you, though? Do you like them?

I have to admit, I’ve never been much of a fan of either Alexa Chung or shoes with animal faces on them, but for those of you who are, here’s Alexa wearing a pair of Charlotte Olympia’s ‘Kitty’ heels to the British Fashion Awards, where she won the British Style Award for the second year running

Alexa has been photographed in these shoes quite a few times now (and also in the flat version), so she’s clearly a fan. Are you, though? These are £455, and you can click here to buy them if you are.

Ah, the Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Clou’ slingbacks! These have to be one of my favourite Louboutin styles of all time, and if I was rich, I’d have bought them in every colour! As I’m not, I’ll just have to settle for admiring these ones, as worn by Jennifer Love Hewitt to Variety’s 3rd Annual Power of Women Luncheon in LA this week. Jennifer wore the shoes with a white dress which looks to me like a Herve Leger. If they were mine, I’d wear them with everything. All the time. Even to walk the dog. No, I’m not joking…
