Celebrity Shoes: Designer shoes as seen on celebrity feet

ShoeperStar: Shenae Grimes in Alexander McQueen curved wedge ankle boots

Confession: having been completely obsessed with the original 90210 in the 90s, when the new series started a few years ago, I watched the first couple of episodes out of curiosity… and found myself hooked. There’s just something about the simple tale of excessively wealthy young Cali kids, isn’t there?

Anyway, my shoe-related point (and I do have one, I promise) is that while Shenae Grimes may not be all that familiar to some of you, she’s seen in my house every week, and this is why I was a little surprised that she would be the first celebrity I would see wearing Alexander McQueen’s curved ankle boots. You know when you see someone on TV so much that it’s a shock to see them in their “civilian” clothes, because they’ve essentially become their character for you? That.

I showed you the shoe version of these boots back in August, and declared them to be Shoe Kryptonite. I’m less keen on this version, purely because of my aversion to peep toe boots, but if they were to miraculously land on my shoe shelves, say, I’d wear them with black tights and consider myself very lucky.

You, meanwhile, can buy the leather version for $1185 at Ssense.

What do you think of Shenae’s look?

Shoeperstar: Zoe Saldana in Brian Atwood pink ‘Alba’ platform peep toes

Here’s a good example of a shoe which looks much better when worn than it does in the product photo. These shoes looked pretty cute on the Brian Atwood website:

Zoe wore these to the premiere of Machine Gun Preacher in L.A. this week. What do you think of them?

Cheryl Cole launches shoe collection for Stylist Pick

cheryl cole shoe collection stylist pick Cheryl Cole launches shoe collection for Stylist Pick

By now you’ve probably all heard about Cheryl Cole’s upcoming shoe collection with Stylist Pick, but just in case you haven’t, Stylist Pick is a member’s only website which works in much the same way as Kim Kardashian’s ShoeDazzle: you pay a monthly fee (in this case £39.95), and every month you’re emailed a choice of shoes and accessories which have been selected for you by the company’s stylists. Like ShoeDazzle, you’re not obliged to buy anything if there’s nothing you fancy: you just skip the month, no money is taken from your account, and you can pick it up again the following month.

This December, Cheryl Cole will launch her first ever shoe collection, with the shoes being available exclusively through the Stylist Pick website, so I thought this was as good a time as ever to ask what you think of subscription-based shoe services? Are you a member of any? Are they something you think you’d use? Does Cheryl’s involvement make you more likely to sign up?

If the answer to the last two questions was “yes”, you can click here to join Stylist Pick: don’t forget to come back and tell me what you think, though!

Shoeperstar: Leighton Meester in Burberry Prorsum beaded sandals

As soon as I saw this photo of Leighton Meester, my eyes went straight to her shoes. That can be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing, and I think I’m going to leave up to you to decide which it is in this particular case.

What I will say is that these shoes are by Burberry Prorsum, and you may have seen some just like them on the Spring 2012 runway recently. What do you think of the heavily beaded style?

Shoeperstar: Victoria Beckham in Christian Louboutin ‘Daffodil’ pumps

FP 7886639 Beckham Victoria AAR 08 29 Shoeperstar: Victoria Beckham in Christian Louboutin Daffodil pumps

Victoria Beckham is back in heels again following her recent slipped disc, and, never one for half-measures, she’s gone for the tallest heels possible: a pair of Christian Louboutin’s Daffodil platforms! These are clearly a Beckham favourite: Victoria wore the black version to the Royal Wedding earlier this year, and has been seen a few times now in the shoes pictured. I have to say, they’ve become a Shoeperwoman favourite too, and I’ve gone from not being particularly keen on them, to really loving them, in the space of a few short months!

You’ll find some more photos of Victoria out shopping with her new daughter, Harper Seven, in the gallery below. I know it’s wrong to envy a baby, but this baby is going to have one helluva closet…

Dita Von Teese in Christian Louboutin bow pumps

I know I feature Dita Von Teese fairly often here, but given that she’s one of my favourite stars, and always wears shoes by my favourite designer, I guess it’s to be expected!

As it happens, these shoes are one of my favourite styles, too: it’s not a great photo, but they look to me like the Christian Louboutin Bow Dorcet pumps, which were released a few years ago, and which instantly won my heart with their huge, sideways bow. In fact, I distinctly remember wanting to get divorced, just so Shoeperman and I could re-marry, and I could wear these in white. (Although, these days I’d actually pick the red version instead. Well, why not?)

I also love the fact that Dita doesn’t shy away the “matchy matchy” which is so scorned amongst many fashion-followers these days. On anyone else, the red dress, clutch, lips, nails and shoes would be too much, but as always, I think Dita pulls it off with her usual panache.

What do you think?

Edit: I’m now thinking these may actually be the Very Noeud style rather than the Bow Dorcets : the bow is very similar on both!

Hilary Duff in Charlotte Olympia striped platform pumps

I spotted these shoes at Louisa Via Roma yesterday, but figured I didn’t have a good enough excuse to show you them, given that I’ve featured so many pairs of Charlotte Olympia platforms here recently. (I know, it’s never really stopped me before, but sometimes I do think about these things!)

Today, though, I came across this photo of Hilary Duff wearing the very shoes, while out and about in Brazil, and that was all the excuse I needed! I know the Charlotte Olympia platform is always a source of controversy amongst Shoeperwoman readers, but I’m getting to like it more and more (Actually, Sarah Jessica Parker has been wearing Charlotte Olympia shoes almost exclusively while she’s been on London promoting her new movie recently, and every time I’ve seen photos of her, she’s confirmed how much I love this style of shoe.) and if I was rich, I’d snap these up in a heartbeat:

As I’m not rich, however, I’ll just have to content myself by admiring them on other people. Here’s one more for the road:

Name That Shoe!

FP 7836555 CHP Bosworth Kate 22 30 Name That Shoe!

Today, Shoeper Sleuths, I bring you a feature that is part game, part blatant excuse to oggle some beautiful shoes. (As if we even need an excuse…)

Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to take a look at the shoes shown the gallery below, and tell me who made them. (Bonus points if you can tell me who’s wearing them, although it’s not compulsory…) Some are very easy – the red sole is always a dead giveaway, no? – and some are a little trickier, but they’re all beautiful in their own way, so even if you don’t know the answer, hopefully you’ll have fun looking at them, anwyay!

(I should probably point out that even I don’t know the designers of all of these, so I’m hoping you’ll be the Shoeperheroes with some of them!)

Off you go, then: name those shoes! Or, if you prefer, simply enjoy the view…
