Elisa Sednaoui in Christian Louboutin boots

As beautiful as model Elisa Sednaoui is,  when I looked at this photo, I had eyes only for her shoes, which are Christian Louboutin’s knee-high mesh boots. Yes, mesh knee boots, you read that right. I guess they’re intended to be the perfect solution for people who want to continue wearing boots in warmer weather, and I can see how that would work, but I’m afraid these get the thumbs down from me. Here’s why:

Jennifer Lopez at teh 2010 Oscars

Jennifer Lopez was one of the few celebrities to give us a glimpse of her feet at last night’s Oscars. She wore silver Ferragamo pumps with her amazing Armani Prive “bubblewrap” style dress. I must confess to being one of the few people who actually liked this dress: I’m not keen on the fabric at all, but I do love the shape of it, and thought she looked fantastic. (And when you’re ploughing through hundreds of photos of celebrity dresses at 4am in the morning, well, it’s always nice to find one that stands out.) What do you think?

Carey Mulligan at the 2010 Oscars

The Academy Awards aren’t generally a great time for shoe lovers, because while there are lots of fabulous pieces of footwear being worn on the red carpet, they’re normally hidden away under all those long gowns. Which is criminal, really.

Best Actress nominee, Carey Mulligan, however, wore a dress to this year’s ceremony which seemed almost designed to show off her shoes. Both the dress and the shoes are Prada, and Carey may not have won the gong, but was she a winner in the style stakes in this outfit? I’ll let you decide…

Dita Von Teese in Christian Louboutin shoes

Oh, what I wouldn’t give for just a few minutes alone inside Dita Von Teese’s shoe closet!

Dita almost exclusively wears Christian Louboutin shoes, many of which are custom-made for her by the great man himself, so it comes as no surprise to see her out and about this week in these sparkly CL sandals. Aren’t they just beautiful?

Take a look under the jump to see what Dita wore with them!

Louis Vuitton shoes

I’m not sure if it’s the way they’re cut, the way she’s standing, or just a really bad fit, but these shoes just don’t look comfortable on Natalia Vodianova, do they?

They’re Louis Vuitton’s Cancan ankle straps, and while I don’t tend to like Louis Vuitton in general, I really don’t like the shape of the heels on this particular line. Natalia obviously does, though, so take a look under the jump for some more photos, and to see what she wore with them!

Olivia Palermo at the Elle Style Awards

I don’t know who made the shoes Olivia Palermo wore to the Elle Style Awards last night (any ideas), but I do know that I want them.

I’ll take the legs, too, if anyone’s offering…

Garcelle Beauvais in Givenchy shoesThese shoes are just begging to have the word “fierce” used to describe them, aren’t they?

I hate the fashion-related use of the word “fierce”, though, so instead all I’ll say is “wow!”. I’m actually not sure whether that’s an admiring “wow” or a “wow” of horror, though: these are definitely amazing to look at, but I think I’d rather keep on looking at them rather than actually wear them.

What do you think? They’re by Givenchy, and they’re seen here on Garcelle Beauvais, who wore them with a Versace dress, to the world premiere of Valentine’s Day this week. Full outfit shot under the jump…

Miranda Kerr in YSL Tribute pumps in Sydney

Miranda Kerr at Bondi BeachYou know, it’s my birthday next month. Could someone get me Miranda Kerr’s legs, do you think? No? OK, how about just the shoes, then? These look like YSL’s Tribute pumps to me, and they’re something of a celebrity shoe staple these days, popping up everywhere from red carpet events to a function at a Bondi Beach restaurant, which is where Miranda wore them this week. She’s gone for the slightly risky “high heels/short skirt” combo, but I guess when you’re a Victoria’s Secret model you can get away with things like this, hmm?

Olivia Wilde at the 2010 Grammy Awards

You could be forgiven, sometimes, for thinking that the dress code for most red carpet events reads “must wear very high heels”, so it makes a nice change to see someone flouting that convention, and turning up in a pair of flats. Olivia Fox chose these metallic flats to wear with her pale green dress at last night’s Grammy Awards. She looks very fresh and pretty here, although in contrast to some of the other outfits on show last night, she actually managed to look rather casual in comparison.

What do you think of this as a red carpet look?

Kelis at the First Annual Data AwardsYou don’t really need any commentary from me on this one, do you?

Nope, didn’t think so.
