If you’re a regular reader, you’ll probably know by now that I’m a huge Vivienne Westwood fan. Huge. But I just can’t get on board with the designer’s famous “toe shoes”, as seen this weekend on Parker Posey:
In fact, I would go so far as to say that I actively hate them. I know Dame Viv has been making them for years, so they presumably have a big enough fan base to keep on selling, but seriously, I hate them. So much. They always look to me like shoes which are about five sizes too small, and which the wearer’s feet are just busting out of. I may be a shoe fan, but I’m most definitely not a foot fan (Sorry, all you foot fetishists who keep writing to me thinking that because I love shoes I must also love feet: the two passions most definitely do not go hand in hand for me. Or foot in shoe, rather.), so these are just a huge turn-off for me.

I have to admit, I’ve never been much of a fan of either Alexa Chung or shoes with animal faces on them, but for those of you who are, here’s Alexa wearing a pair of Charlotte Olympia’s ‘Kitty’ heels to the British Fashion Awards, where she won the British Style Award for the second year running
Alexa has been photographed in these shoes quite a few times now (and also in the flat version), so she’s clearly a fan. Are you, though? These are £455, and you can click here to buy them if you are.

Ah, the Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Clou’ slingbacks! These have to be one of my favourite Louboutin styles of all time, and if I was rich, I’d have bought them in every colour! As I’m not, I’ll just have to settle for admiring these ones, as worn by Jennifer Love Hewitt to Variety’s 3rd Annual Power of Women Luncheon in LA this week. Jennifer wore the shoes with a white dress which looks to me like a Herve Leger. If they were mine, I’d wear them with everything. All the time. Even to walk the dog. No, I’m not joking…

Confession: having been completely obsessed with the original 90210 in the 90s, when the new series started a few years ago, I watched the first couple of episodes out of curiosity… and found myself hooked. There’s just something about the simple tale of excessively wealthy young Cali kids, isn’t there?
Anyway, my shoe-related point (and I do have one, I promise) is that while Shenae Grimes may not be all that familiar to some of you, she’s seen in my house every week, and this is why I was a little surprised that she would be the first celebrity I would see wearing Alexander McQueen’s curved ankle boots. You know when you see someone on TV so much that it’s a shock to see them in their “civilian” clothes, because they’ve essentially become their character for you? That.
I showed you the shoe version of these boots back in August, and declared them to be Shoe Kryptonite. I’m less keen on this version, purely because of my aversion to peep toe boots, but if they were to miraculously land on my shoe shelves, say, I’d wear them with black tights and consider myself very lucky.

Here’s a good example of a shoe which looks much better when worn than it does in the product photo. These shoes looked pretty cute on the Brian Atwood website:
but personally, I think they look even nicer on Zoe Saldana in the image above: the pink suede just looks brighter, bolder, and far more appealing, somehow.
Zoe wore these to the premiere of Machine Gun Preacher in L.A. this week. What do you think of them?

By now you’ve probably all heard about Cheryl Cole’s upcoming shoe collection with Stylist Pick, but just in case you haven’t, Stylist Pick is a member’s only website which works in much the same way as Kim Kardashian’s ShoeDazzle: you pay a monthly fee (in this case £39.95), and every month you’re emailed a choice of shoes and accessories which have been selected for you by the company’s stylists. Like ShoeDazzle, you’re not obliged to buy anything if there’s nothing you fancy: you just skip the month, no money is taken from your account, and you can pick it up again the following month.
This December, Cheryl Cole will launch her first ever shoe collection, with the shoes being available exclusively through the Stylist Pick website, so I thought this was as good a time as ever to ask what you think of subscription-based shoe services? As soon as I saw this photo of Leighton Meester, my eyes went straight to her shoes. That can be a good thing, or it can be a bad thing, and I think I’m going to leave up to you to decide which it is in this particular case.
What I will say is that these shoes are by Burberry Prorsum, and you may have seen some just like them on the Spring 2012 runway recently. What do you think of the heavily beaded style?
