I don’t normally go for what I think of as “novelty shoes” (i.e. any shoes that features an object not normally associated with shoes : bows and hearts I can do – and occasionally the odd piece of fruit, now I come to think of it – but anything else will normally fail to appeal to me…), and sandals with a deck of cards attached to the heel would usually fall into that category. Actually, though, I think these ‘Royal Flush’ sandals by Camilla Elphick are very well done, and just the right side of “novelty” to be interesting and unusual, without being too twee, or ridiculous looking.

Part of that is due to the cream and red colourway (always a winner, in my book), and the simple, single-strap shape of the front, which allows you to be a bit more adventurous with the heel. The card detail itself, however, is the main talking point for these shoes, and I really like it – it’s cute and whimsical, but in a way that’s still really wearable. Also from Camilla Elphick comes these cherry shoes:

cherry shoes

I’m a fan of cherries on pretty much anything – they have a way of giving any item they appear on a bit of a pin-up inspired feel, which I love. I’m not totally convinced by these ones, however – the felt cherry, on a pointed white stiletto, isn’t really doing it for me, but I’m sure they’d look good with the right outfit. One thing you can really never go wrong with, however, is cats:

cat print shoes

Any cat ladies out there? These cat-print pumps might have been designed for you, if so: the print features lots of little feline friends with little red collars, on top of a classic turquoise high-heeled pump. What do you think of them?
