One of my biggest fashion obsessions of the past few months has been with the colour yellow. It’s a little bit unexpected for me, because just a few years ago, I probably wouldn’t have even considered wearing yellow, but it’s fast become a favourite of mine, and yellow shoes just keep on finding their way into my collection. The right shade can be surprisingly versatile, and I think it looks particularly good against blue denim, so causal days more often than not find me reaching for a pair of mustard shoes – or boots, as the case may be.
The shade of yellow used on ASOS’s ‘Piccolo’ wedges is a little brighter than I’d like: I tend to favour a mustard yellow over an acid/neon shade (which I’m not keen on at all), but I think this could just about work with the right outfit. Now that I’m starting to come around to the idea of perspex on shoes, I’ve found that a clear wedge heel like this is one of my favourite uses of perspex: the effect is modern, rather than tacky, and it creates a really interesting “walking on air” illusion, too.
Would I actually BUY these? Well, probably not, but they are pretty affordable should you decide you want to dip your toe – or your heel, rather – into those perspex waters!
