ALDO Rise x Preen platform heeled ankle boots, £145
From the Preen for Aldo Rise collection come these amazing platform boots, which come in a few different uppers, as you can see in the small gallery below. These boots wouldn’t work with my wardrobe or personal style at all, so they’re very much of the “look, but don’t touch” variety for me, but although I’d never buy them, I actually really like them… to look at. I particularly like the floral print version at all, but I think it’s what Cher from Clueless would call a “total Monet” – i.e. it looks better from a distance than it does up close! Then again, who really ever sees your shoes up close anyway – unless you’re participating in Shoeperwoman’s Shoe Challenge, that is!
I liked them at first, but they need to be in canvas rather than leather (so for spring/summer, but then they’re hardly a winter look anyway), and they definitely need to get rid of the brogue styling (but not replace with peep-toe – though I think that hideous style has finally bitten the dust).
