The Perfect Green Party Dress

I don’t normally pay a whole lot of attention to advertising, but last week I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed, and there, tucked away between inspirational messages and videos of cats, was an advert for SilkFred. Now, this is a site I was vaguely aware of, but hadn’t paid a huge amount of attention to in the past. I had a bit of time on my hands, though, so I decided to have a bit of a browse, and there it was – the perfect green party dress.

Now, when I first came across this dress, I was browsing on my phone, and the colour looked much more vibrant, and less dark, than it does now that I’m looking at it on my desktop. I’m not sure which colour representation is the most accurate: I’m hoping it’s the phone, but, having said that, I do love most shades of green, so if it turned out to be the darker shade, I wouldn’t be too upset about it.

I really like the retro-inspired feel of this dress, with its nipped-in waist and knee-length wiggle skirt. While cowl necklines aren’t my favourite, I also like the fact that this one isn’t too low cut, which adds to that slightly-retro feel. Despite the name of the site I found it on, however, this dress is not, in fact – it’s a polyester/elastane mix, which was a bit of a disappointment, as I’d have loved it even more in silk. Again, though, it wouldn’t be a deal-breaker for me, purely because I love the shape and colour so much.

This was my favourite dress at SilkFred, but it was actually up against some pretty stiff competition, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, it could be worth a look: who knew Facebook adverts could be so useful?
