ASOS ‘Traffic Jam’ gold cork wedges

There’s one type of platform sole that I’ll still wear right now – which I actually prefer to any other kind of sole, actually – and it’s the platform wedge.

Yes, this is the part where I start talking about how much I love gold cork wedges, and how I couldn’t possibly live without them. If you’re a regular reader then sorry, I know you hear this every year: if you’re new, though, then let the record show that my name is ShoeperWoman (Well, actually, it’s Amber, but still…) and I love gold wedges. For me, they’re a true summer essential: the kind of shoe you can easily dress up or down as required, and which have all of the style of high heels, but with all – or some, at least – of the comfort of flats – and a whole lot more arch support, into the bargain. For those reasons, they always tend to be my “summer holiday” shoes, as they allow me to stay comfortable for a day’s sightseeing, without having to enduring the stumpifying effect of flats. (And trust me: when your legs are stumpy enough to begin with, you don’t want to do anything at all to make matters worse…)

Anyway, these “Traffic Jam” shoes by ASOS are the first pair of gold wedges to catch my eye this season so far, but I’m sure they won’t be the last. The gold leather upper is actually a little dressier than most of the wedges I’ve owned in the past, but they should still be easy enough to dress down for daytime wear. The platform sole is, I know, higher than some of you will be comfortable with, but trust me: it probably won’t actually FEEL that high when you’re wearing them. There’s only one way to find that out for sure, though…
