Every year, at around this time, I write a blog post with the title ‘Happy Shoe Year’ (yes, I know it’s predictable, but it’s too obvious a pun to ignore…), and every year I begin it by talking about what a great year it’s been.
I’m not going to do that this year.
2016 has, quite frankly, been a shocker of a year: not just for me personally (although I’d certainly put it in the top five worst years of my life, for sure), but for many of the people I know, and for many of the people I DON’T know, but just read about or see on the news. I mean, I’m sure there are some of you who’ve had awesome 2016s, and that’s great, it really is, but this is one year I, for one, will be pleased to see the end of, and I’m sure I’m not alone in feeling that way.
With that said, tomorrow night is not just the end of one year: it’s also the start of another, and that’s definitely something to be celebrated. Whatever you’re doing on New Year’s Eve, I hope it’s a fun one: and however your 2017 works out, I hope it’s everything you could possibly wish for.
Here’s to the next chapter, everyone!
