Friday Favourites: 3 things to buy from Next this winter

I always love it when the new season Next directory drops through my door: or is left on the doorstep, rather – that thing is far too large these days to fit through the letterbox: and even if it did, I’m pretty sure it would leave a hole in the floor when it landed!

Whatever its size, however, it’s always a lot of fun to flick through over a cup of coffee: here are some of the things I’m loving from this season’s selection…

Next Khaki military coat

Next Khaki Military Coat

I’m really loving khaki for autumn/winter this year: it’s a softer, more flattering alternative to black, and the contrast of the dark green of this coat, with the gold buttons, is just perfect. The one thing holding me back here is the length: it looks fabulous on the model, but although there is a petite version available, I’m not convinced it would be quite the right length for me – the jury’s still out!

cable knit dress

Cable-knit dress

Cable-knit sweaters are another autumn/winter must-have for me, and this dress is basically my favourite sweater, but longer. I mean, what’s not to love about THAT? It looks like it would be ever bit as comfortable as cosy as the sweater, too, and I’m desperately trying NOT to notice how good it would look with that coat, because that could possibly make me want to buy them both – and we can’t have that now, can we?

coated leggings

Coated leggings

No, your eyes do not deceive you – that is, indeed, a pair of leggings you see before you! I know they’re not quite my usual style, but every winter, I find myself really wanting to try something like these, but never quite getting round to it. Maybe the fact that these are just £24 could be the deciding factor, you never know…

  • I have a version of that cable sweater dress from about 3 years ago and it’s the warmest thing I own. I love it!
Also, I’m quite tempted to try coated leggings or jeans, not sure H would think they’re a good look though!
