Pom Pom shoes are taking over the shoe world

Jimmy Choo 'Dolly' silver pom pom sandals

I should probably begin this post by saying that the title is a bit of an exaggeration. I mean, pom pom shoes aren’t ACTUALLY taking over the shoe world, but there sure are a lot of them around right now, aren’t there? Which is honestly kinda strange given that the pom pom look is one that probably isn’t going to appeal to everyone – or certainly not as much as the more ‘usual’ embellishments, like bows, or brooches, or even hearts.

Love them or loathe them, however, pom pom shoes do seem to be having something of a fashion “moment”, don’t they? There are two different styles shown in this post: my favourite is the type that comes with one (or two at most) giant pom poms, normally on the toe of the shoe – like the silver pair by Jimmy Choo at the top of the image (which are probably one of my favourites of all the Choos I’ve seen in a long time!) or the lower cost pink shoes by Priviledged, which come with just one pom pom on the toe, for a glamorous look.

While the single pom pom brings to mind a bit of old Hollywood glamour, however, the other style that prevails at the moment is that of the multicoloured pom pom, normally found dangling from laces, and attached anywhere the designer fancies: examples of this look are these shoes by Aquazzura, which are actually a little more restrained than some I could mention. I’m much less keen on this kind of style: the white leather on the Aquazzura sandals does help tone done the effect a little, but in most cases, the effect is a little too chaotic for my tastes, and – I’m just going to say it – makes me think of clown shoes. Sorry, pom pom shoes.

Still, that’s just me, and I’m sure there are tons of people out there who’ll love them, so happy shopping!
