As soon as I saw this dress, I knew it was going to be out of my price range. I mean, there was just no way something so perfect could be from an affordable high street store, was there?
I was right, too: this is by Dolce & Gabbana, and it’s £1,300, which is so far out of my price range it’s barely even in “fantasy purchase” territory. It’s a good job I didn’t get my hopes up when I stumbled across it on Polyvore then, huh?
I may not be able to buy it, however, but I can admire it from afar, and I’ve certainly been doing my fair share of that. As regular readers may know, I’m a sucker for a spot of gingham, be it on dresses, skirts, trousers, shoes… I don’t really care. There’s just something very retro about an oversized check, no matter what it’s attached to. In this case, however, I can totally imagine a young Brigitte Bardot wearing something like this, can’t you? Just imagine big, tousled blonde hair, red lips, and a cat’s eye flick, and you’ll get what I mean.
My search for a (much) more affordable high street version starts now, and if I find it, I’ll wear it with my Vivienne Westwood x Melissa Lady Dragon ‘Cherries’ shoes , or perhaps with a simple pair of black peep toes. If you happen to have a spare £1,300 to spend on a new dress, however, you can find it here: enjoy![P.S.
