Weekly Wishlist | Four transitional pieces for Fall

This week’s Wishlist is heavily skewed towards the casual: as much as I love my summer dresses (and generally prefer summer clothes to winter ones), but this point in August, I’m starting to grudgingly accept that any “summery” purchases I make now will get very limited use, before having to be set aside until next spring, and that makes me reluctant to invest too much.

Instead, I’m focusing on easy, transitional pieces, which I can wear now and continue to get use out of as the year progresses. I’ve already talked a bit about the River Island biker jackets I’m currently coveting (I ordered the green one, by the way.., It came back into stock in my size this morning, so I pounced. Now I’m just hoping it fits!), but this week I also have my eye on…

Boden spot collar jumper, £69

I wrote last week about my need for new tops, and this little sweater, and this little sweater is polka dot perfection. I’m always a little wary of Peter Pan collars, which I think can look a little childish, but I think this one could just work. I’d wear it with…

Boden skinnny ankle skimmer jeans, £49

Boden skinny ankle skimmer jeans

Buy Them

I’m on a seemingly endless quest for skinny jeans that aren’t too skinny, aren’t too distressed, and aren’t too long in the leg. These ones LOOK perfect from the photos: they’re exactly the right mid-blue shade I love, and the leg doesn’t appear to be SUPER-skinny. As a slightly shorter-than-average person, I always look out for jeans marketed as “cropped” or “ankle length”: they may be cropped on someone taller, but they’re normally just the right length for me, which means I don’t have to have them altered. If these ones are still too long, however, Boden also do a petite length, which could work.

Topshop petite casual chambray shirt, £30

I’ve been on the lookout for a pale blue, chambray-style coat for absolutely ages, but so far all of the ones I’ve tried have had an “oversized” cut, which I’m not keen on. This Topshop version looks fairly loose cut in the photo, but is from the petite section, so there’s a better chance of getting the right fit!

Finally:

John Lewis zip-back red Breton top, £25

red Breton stripe top

Buy It

I used this top in one of my shoe-styling posts recently, and immediately added it to my wish list. I’ve amassed quite a collection of stripe tops over the years, but I don’t have a red one, so this would fill that gap nicely!

What’s on your wish list this week?
