Zara black wedge knee boots, £119

Yup, it’s Zara again, now on to their third mention here in almost as many days. Well, I did warn you

Seriously, though, I couldn’t really be expected to pass these by without so much as a cursory mention, could I? I’ve been on the lookout for a pair of wedge boots lately, but they’re not quite as easy to find as I was hoping: there are lots of of them around, but the combination of wedge heel plus high leg can make for a bit of a clunky kinda shape, and we can’t have that now, can we?

These boots neatly solve that problem by giving them a very pointed toe and narrow heel, for a streamlined look which I love, and which will go equally well with both trousers and skirts: an essential quality in a pair of winter boots if they’re to earn their place in my closet.

What do you think of them?

  • I saw them in a Zara store today, but I couldn’t be bothered to try them on – main reason being that I was wearing sandals, as it’s still pretty warm in Bucharest, where I live (yey!). Also, although I love wedges, I have a little problem with footware that has a high wedge but no platform: I find it much more uncomfortable than a high heel + platform – which kind of defeats the purpose of the wedge imo (making high shoes more comfortable). Nr.3 These boots looked a little too pointy for me; i think I’m going to have a real hard time getting used to the poiny trend (which i hated the last time around), I much prefer the almond toe!

  • I bought them today, they remind me of Balenciaga Astrogirl boots. Zara ones are much prettier in life than on the photo in my opinion.
