Pin heeled peep toes by Gianmarco Lorenzi

guianmarco lorenzi pin heel shoes Pin heeled peep toes by Gianmarco Lorenzi

Gianmarco Lorenzi is famous for ridiculous platforms and extravagant shapes, but it was actually the bright colours that attracted me to these shoes, rather than the pin heel stilettos or the contrasting silver platforms.

These are the kind of shoes I’d be totally unable to walk past if I saw them in a store. I’d stop and try them on, just for the sheer hell of it, and while I’d end up walking away without them, I’d have a fun few minutes pretending I was going to wear them.

I’ve had a fun few minutes looking at them, too: they’re just pure eye candy, aren’t they?

These are £645 at Far Fetch: click here to buy them.

Schuh ‘Princess’ turquoise glitter wedge heels

    Schuh ‘Princess’, £68

I can’t quite believe I’ve never shown you Schuh’s ‘Princess’ wedges before. They’ve been around for a while now, in various colours, and I’m sure they’ll be familiar to anyone who does a lot of shopping on the UK high street. I’ve previously featured the ‘Pretty Glitter’ pumps, which are the non-wedge version, but the beautiful turquoise suede on these ones made me decide these really deserved their moment in the spotlight.

Now, if you’d told me BEFORE I’d seen these that I’d find myself admiring a pair of glitter-covered wedges, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. I think it was the “on the foot” shot that swung it for me:

(Have I mentioned how much I love it that Schuh does this, by the way? Shoes can look so different in real life, or when they’re actually being worn, that it can be so helpful to actually see them “in action”, as it were.

While we’re on the subject of Schuh:

I featured these as part of my summer preview, back in January, but as a lot of you shared my love for them, I figured you might want to know that they’re now available to buy. Polka-dot perfection..

    Sergio Rossi blue plexiglass sandals

sergio rossi blue plexglass sandals Sergio Rossi blue plexiglass sandalsEven although the thought of paying £500 for a pair of plexiglass sandals makes me break out in a cold sweat, and I can already imagine what kind of reaction these shoes will get from most of my readers, there’s something about them that’s really pleasing to the eye. I suspect it’s probably just the colour mix: those blues and greens make me think of the sea, especially when combined with the clear uppers, and they’re just very soothing to look at.

Would I wear them? Probably not, although I like them better than most clear plastic shoes I see.

Would I buy them? Definitely not. I did mention the £500 price tag, didn’t I?

If you would, however, they’re available at Colette, and you can click here to find them. Here’s one more photo for the road:

    ASOS ‘Loveheart’ toecap ballerina flats

You know, there are so many pairs of cute flats around right now that even I’m in danger of becoming converted.

OK, not really: I’ll probably always love my heels.

I must admit, though, that if these pink and gold ‘Loveheart’ flats weren’t already sold out in my size, they’d possibly find themselves sneaking into my shopping basket as part of my next ASOS.com order. Well, it’s hard to resist a £20 pair of shoes, especially a pair covered in hearts, which seem to be a weakness of mine where flats are concerned. And where everything else is concerned, too, really…

These are also available in nude and black, and most sizes are still available in those shades.

ShoeperStar: Angelina Jolie’s leg (In Salvatore Ferragamo shoes) at the 2012 Oscars

angelina jolies eg at the 2012 oscars ShoeperStar: Angelina Jolies leg (In Salvatore Ferragamo shoes) at the 2012 Oscars

OK, let’s talk about Angelina Jolie’s leg, shall we?

Lots of people have been busy making fun of Angie for her strange, “LOOK, HERE IS MY LEG!” stance (which she managed to maintain all night, amazingly: I wonder if she’s still standing like that now?), but honestly, I think she just wanted to show off her shoes. Well, think about it: it’s the Oscars, you’re all dressed up, you’re probably wearing some of the most fabulous shoes of your entire career… and you have to hide them under a long gown all night. It’s just not fair, is it? (Shoe-loving brides will no doubt be able to sympathise with Angelina on this one.) So Angelina fixed it. She fixed it by standing with her leg thrust out at all times. Sometimes a Shoeperstar’s gotta do what a Shoeperstar’s gotta do…

As for the shoes themselves, they’re custom made black Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, and which fit in well with Angelina’s no-fuss aesthetic, although I’m not sure they quite justify the full-on “leg thrust”!

ShoeperStar: Heidi Klum in Christian Louboutin ‘Duvette’ pumps

Because of the “long gowns” dress code, The Oscars (and other big events like it) don’t really offer much of an opportunity for shoe spotting, unfortunately, although there were a few exceptions at Sunday’s event, which I’ll get round to soon.

First, though, I just wanted to show you this photo of Heidi Klum, taken at Elton John’s Oscar Viewing Party on Sunday night. Heidi’s wearing one of my favourite of Christian Louboutin‘s offerings: the blush and gold “Duvette” pumps, variations on which can be found all over the high street (although none so nice as these).

These are currently out of stock online, but you may get lucky with Louboutin boutiques or concessions. And by “lucky” I mean “REALLY lucky, you lucky, lucky, lucky thing.”

Mi Miu suede, glitter and crystal-embellished sandals

I had what feels like a whole shelf-worth of fabulous shoes lined up to show you today, but… then our Internet connection went down for several hours, right during the time I’d set aside for today’s posts. And when it came back up? I myself went down, with some kind of minor stomach bug. Gah.

I decided to give up on the day and headed to bed with a book, so I’m rushing to catch up today, and posts may be a little slow. While I sort myself out, here’s a little bit of eye candy, in the shape of Miu Miu‘s fabulous turquoise suede glitter pumps, which are £650 at Net-a-Porter. Yes, I think I’ve already shown you these with an all-over glitter upper, but let’s pretend I haven’t, and that the turquoise suede is pretty enough to make you forget all other variations of this shoe anyway. Or something.

    Look, shiny!

Sam Edelman ‘Novato’ polka dot platform slingbacks

sam edeman novato polka dot Sam Edelman Novato polka dot platform slingbacks

Today, readers, I finally lost my battle against these Sam Edelman slingbacks. I was trying to resist showing you them, you see: not because I didn’t think they were worth showing (very much the opposite, in fact), but because I have actually featured the striped version here before, as part of a Shoe Deja Vu post.

What I didn’t realise when I wrote that, however, was that these are also available with a polka dot upper. Polka dot upper? On a platform slingback? That I HAVEN’T blogged about yet? Well, we’ll have to do fix that, now, won’t we…

These are actually one of the nicest polka dot shoes I’ve seen so far this year, and let me tell you, I’ve seen a LOT of polka dot shoes this year. And it’s still only February. Since I’m on a bit of a “pink and gold” kick today, though, I’m just going to throw these into the mix, too:

J’adore. Maybe even just as much as the spotted version, actually.

These are available in no less than EIGHT other colourways. Click here to see them all, and buy a pair if you wish, at Zappos.
