Proenza Schouler Multicolour High Heel Sandals

proenza scouler shoes Proenza Schouler Multicolour High Heel Sandals

These shoes are really quite something, aren’t they?

They’re not the kind of “something” that would make me want to rush out and buy them, say, but they are the kind of something that makes me think they deserve to be seen by my lovely readers, so here they are!

These have an almost tribal feel to them (or the fashion-world’s idea of “tribal”, anyway), with the loooong ankle strap and the fringing at the top. Add in the red, blue and orange colourway, and I think these will definitely be one of the more unusual pairs of shoes I’ll be showing you, this week at least.

What do you think of them, though? They’re $1,195 (ouch!), they’re by Proenza Schouler, and you can click here to buy them from Shopbop.

ALDO Mcintyde Glitter Bow Heeled Shoes

gold glitter platform shoes ALDO Mcintyde Glitter Bow Heeled Shoes

I’m not sure why, but after years of telling myself that I really mustn’t buy any more pairs of party shoes (especially ones with lots of glitter or sequins on them!), I’ve suddenly found myself desperately wanting a pair of totally OTT party shoes: the type that you’d never find a reason to wear in day to day life, but which would be absolutely perfect on a big night out. A pair of shoes a bit like these ‘Mcintyde’ shoes from Aldo, basically.

The gold glitter uppers combined with 5″ heel and high platform make these real show-stoppers, but if you like your shoes to be “sweet” rather than “sexy”, well, there is a cute little bow on the front, for all of the difference it makes.

I feel like dancing now. If you do too, these are £85 at ASOS: click here to buy them.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge Week 37 Roundup

    by
    5

It’s week 37 of the Shoe Challenge, and the number of participants has started to tail off a bit recently, which makes me think that either a lot of you are close to the end of your challenges (yay!) or are simply starting to realise that the true challenge here isn’t wearing all of the shoes – it’s remembering (or finding time!) to document the process!

As for me, I’ve spent most of the past couple of weeks re-acquainting myself with my boot collection: unfortunately my favourite boots were some of the ones I chose to save first, back in February (I can’t believe the challenge has already spanned almost all of the seasons!) which isn’t good news for saving new pairs. I probably won’t get another save in this weekend, as it’s Halloween, and this year’s costume doesn’t really allow for fancy footwear, sadly, but hopefully some of you will get an extra pair or two saved!

    Have a shoeper weekend!

Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin 120 MM Metalipp Suede Pumps

christian louboutin blue suede shoes Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin 120 MM Metalipp Suede Pumps

I know I’ve shown you a few variations on this particular style of shoe now, but I can’t help it: a shoe like this deserves to be seen!

This is the Metalipp 120mm, and it comes with a gold pin heel, matching toe cap, and a blue suede upper (which is the perfect contrast for the bright red sole!). The colour combination, plus the braiding on the toe cap gives this an almost “military” feel (assuming, of course, that the military wore stilettos. Which they don’t.)

As with almost all of Louboutin’s designs, however, it’s the shape that really makes the shoe. The colours, fabrics and design details are all fabulous, but that curvy shape would probably look good no matter what you covered it in, don’t you think?

These are $635 at Louise Via Roma: click here to buy them.

Alberto Gozzi green suede knee high boots

Green suede boots. Do you know how long I’ve been looking for a pair of green suede boots? LONG. REALLY LONG. Fi has a pair from River Island which I’ve been coveting for years now, but every pair I find are wrong in some way: either the colour isn’t quite right, the shape isn’t quite right, the leg is so wide it’ll look like a pair of wellies on me. It’s a long, hard battle to find the right pair of green suede boots, let me tell you.

These ones by Alberto Gozzi aren’t quite right either: while I do like this particular shade of green, it’s a little darker than the Ultimate Green Suede boots I’ve had in my head all these years. (Don’t you just hate it when you do that, by the way? You imagine the perfect item… and then you spend more or less your whole life looking for it, only to discover that it apparently exists only in your head. I do it aaaalllll the time.) They are a lovely shape, though, and I really like the wrapover detail at the ankle, which adds a little something special to the design.

As lovely as they are, however, these are also £300, which means they won’t be fulfilling my green-boot needs any time soon, although you can click here to buy them from Spartoo, if you think they might fulfill yours.

Valentino peep toes voted sexiest shoes of the year

sexy shoes valentino Valentino peep toes voted sexiest shoes of the year

According to the results of a poll run by Footwear News and Saks Fifth Avenue, these Valentino peep toes are officially the sexiest shoes of 2011.

As I said over at The Fashion Police earlier today, I’m a little surprised. It’s not that I don’t like the shoes, because I actually think they’re really pretty: they just don’t seem quite special, or quite “sexy” enough to be deemed the best of the entire year.

    What do you think?

ASOS HYSTERICAL Two Part Platform Satin Sandal with Oversized Bow

Well, folks, I can ignore it no longer: every day now, I get a barrage of press releases, all helpfully informing me that Christmas will take place on December 25th, just like every year, and that I better start obsessing over it. They say if you can’t beat ‘em, you may as well join ‘em, and while I know I’ll probably lose interest in the hysteria by lunchtime (I’ve always felt Christmas should be restricted to December only, personally, but that’s just me…), for now I thought I’d show you a pair of shoes that look exactly like a Christmas gift. Well, OK, not exactly like one – gifts only tend to look like shoes if you’re very lucky – but the shape of the pink bow atop these ‘Hysterical’ sandals by ASOS does remind me of the type of bow found on gifts at thus time of year, and the bright colours are rather festive too.

If the blue and pink mix isn’t your thing, these are also available in black, and if bows aren’t your thing, they’re also available in a range of “sans bow” colourways, including this green glitter version:

Jimmy Choo Marlene feather and suede sandals

Well, it looks like I’m going to have to take back that whole “not a huge Jimmy Choo” fan thing, doesn’t it? And maybe also the whole “not a big fan of feathers” thing, too. And to be honest, feathers are probably never going to be my favourite fashion accessories: I know they can be amazingly glamorous, but, well ,let’s just say I probably shouldn’t have watched The Birds that time…

These feathers, however, could convert even me, and they gave these shoes instant “wow” factor as I was scrolling through Net-a-Porter yesterday morning. The combination of petrol blue and bright purple is truly stunning, and the whole effect is just over-the-top-amazing, don’t you think? They’re theatrical, glamorous, and… I’m gushing now, aren’t I? OK, I’ll stop. I’ll just add that these are $1,195 (which is another reason why I’m not keen on feathered fashion: I always think I’d find it much easier to ruin feathers than I would most other fabrics, which makes me reluctant to spend a lot of money on an outfit featuring them!) at Net-a-Porter, and while we’re on the subject of Jimmy Choo, I may as well show you these, too:

jimmy choo faye zebra print Jimmy Choo Marlene feather and suede sandalsOnce again, these are exactly the kind of thing I wouldn’t expect to like if you were to just describe them to me without showing me them. I mean, zebra print, flowers, woven ankle straps? It all just sounds too much, doesn’t it? Having seen them, though, all I can think is how beautiful they are… and how expensive, too, at $1,795.

These are also available at Net-a-Porter: what do you think of them?
