Charlotte Olympia ‘Verity’ green felt shoes with lips

I sense a theme creeping into today’s posts. First I discovered those Office wedges, which I thought looked like they belonged on a cartoon character, and now I find these Charlotte Olympia pumps, which don’t even look like REAL SHOES to me. Not even a little bit. In fact, when I first laid eyes on them, I assumed I was looking at one of these shoe ornaments you sometimes see.

It’s not just the green felt upper (Great colour, strange fabric choice for a £400 shoes), or the little pair of red lips sitting atop the vamp: it also has something to do with the strangely elongated shape, which… well, it just looks odd to me. Maybe it’s just the angle of the photo, and these would look perfectly normal in real life? What do YOU think?

Office ‘Alignment’ cap toe platform wedges

    These shoes trouble me.

For one thing, they sort of look like a cartoon version of a cap-toed pump. Like, if you asked a little kid to draw a pair of white shoes with a black toe, this the the kind of thing he’d come up with. And if your shoes look like they belong on a cartoon character, well, there’s a good chance that YOU’LL look like the cartoon character they belong on, isn’t there? I somehow doubt that’s ANYONE’S main style aspiration. Well, OK, maybe Katy Perry’s, but celebrities don’t count.

There’s another reason why these shoes bother me, though. It’s the nose. I mean, it DOES look like a nose, doesn’t it? In fact, it looks a bit like my dog’s nose, and while that’s perfectly cute on him, I can’t say I’ve ever looked at it and thought, “You know, that would look great on a pair of wedges!”

Is it just me? Office are urging people to snap these up “before they’re all gone”, so I’m thinking maybe it is. If you want to obey them, these are also available in black, and you can click here to buy them for £95.

Miss KG ‘Arianna’ suede bow platforms

Kurt Geiger have a lot of great shoes in stock at the moment, which is why I’m doing everything I can to resist the temptation of even LOOKING at their website too often.

As you can see, however, curiosity got the better of me this morning, and I found myself cooing over these ‘Arianna’ platforms. These are in the same kind of style as the ‘Minnie’ platforms I love so much, but they have a slightly shorter heel, and the bow is the same shade as the upper, rather than contrasting with it. I’m not normally a “pink” girl, but the particular shade of pink used on these is one that even I’d struggle to resist, and makes the lilac version pale in comparison, although I bet it also looks lovely in real life.

Want to find out? As these are from the Miss KG range, they’re a little less expensive than some of Kurt Geiger’s other offerings, and you can click here to buy a pair for £65.

I’ve loved Christian Louboutin’s Miss Cha Cha slingbacks ever since they were released, but I don’t think I’d ever actually seen them in red before. Which is a darn shame, because as much as I liked the other colours, I think the bright red is the nicest of all:

I’m not sure who her companion is, but I do know that if I was a man, I’d wear gold spiky shoes too…

    SHOES:  Topshop Serano platform sandals
    SAVED: Sunday, August 28th, 2010
SIDEKICKS: Red J Brand jeans, Marc by Marc Jacobs bag (both c/o Shopbop); Zara top,

OK, I’m going to have to ask you all to just pretend I haven’t worn almost this exact outfit once before during the Shoe Challenge, and this is totally new and different to you. Well, it was Sunday: we were spending time with family, and I just wanted to be comfortable and casual. I also wanted to save some shoes, though, so I went for my Topshop Seranos, which currently hold the coveted title of Most Comfortable Heels I Own. Seriously, these have a very high heel and platform, but I think I could walk miles in them, they’re THAT comfortable.

I don’t have a whole lot more to say about this outfit, because, well, it’s just jeans and a top, and you’ve seen it – or one just like it – before. So here are some more photos instead:

    Kandee purple suede ‘Bubblegum’ shoes

If these shoes weren’t £129.99, they would be on my feet right now. Or they would be on their way to my feet, at the very least.

The demi platform is something we’ve seen many times before, of course: most notably on Charlotte Olympia’s creations. It’s less usual to see this style of shoe combined with a chunkier heel, and that, combined with the beautiful colour, is what makes these shoes special for me. It’s just a really nice silhouette, which is simple, but still has plenty of impact:

kandees shoes Kandee purple suede Bubblegum shoesThere’s only one small problem with these. As you know, one of my shoeperpowers is the ability to walk in very high heels. BUT .These babies are 6″, and while there’s also a 1″ platform, that still leaves you with 5″ to balance on, and judging by the angle of the slope,  that could just feel ankle-breaking. I’d definitely be willing to give it a try, though, and if you would too, you can click here to buy yourself a pair!

Giuseppe Zanotti red patent knee high boots

red patent knee high boots Giuseppe Zanotti red patent knee high boots

As a full-time Shoeperhero, I’ve always felt like I really should own a pair of red, knee-high boots. You know, to wear with my bright blue unitard and red cape? Honestly, it’s hard to hold my head up amongst the other superheros without one. The annual superhero Christmas party is a nightmare for me, seriously… If only I had £595, with which to buy these Red Boots Of Wonder by Giuseppe Zanotti! Then all my troubles would be over, and Superman would no longer be the only red-booted superhero, which, quite frankly, would do him good.

    Ahem.

The colour and finish of these boots actually makes them pretty hard to pull off, I think. Had they been red suede, say, or even a soft, matte leather, it would’ve been a little easier, but that bright patent could end up looking cheap if you weren’t careful, and “cheap” is the very last thing you’d want your £595 boots to look, isn’t it?

That said, they’re the most interesting boots I’ve seen all year, and possibly for even longer than that, and they ARE just begging to worn with a cape, so I think they’ve earned their place on Shoeperwoman’s shoe blog, if not on Shoeperwoman’s feet.

What do you think of them?
