Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 30: Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon 2 Heart Shoes

WHAT: Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon heart shoes
WHEN: Tuesday, June 19th, 2011
WHERE: Out and about
WITH: Green dress (Closet); black belt (came free with an ASOS dress)

Did any of you ever see the movie version of Great Expectations starring Gwyneth Paltrow as Estella? One of the things I loved about that movie was the fact that Gwyneth’s character wore green in every single scene of it. Different outfits, of course, andย differentย shades, but always green. Now, I’m not for a second advocating wearing the same colour your whole life long, because that would just be silly, but… I think I’m in danger of it happening to me, because I may as well just hold my hands up and admit that this is one of two green dresses I bought recently. And I have my eye on a third. It’s an addiction, I’m telling you: I see them, and I can’t seem to resist them. I don’t know: there was a time a few years back when I just NEVER seemed to find green clothes at all – maybe now that there’s such an abundance of them, my brain has just decided that I must buy them all now, before it’s too late? Hmmm.

Anyway, this blog is supposed to be about shoes, not dresses (although you wouldn’t always know it), so here are the latest pair of saved shoes: my Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon heart shoes:

I’m so glad I bought these shoes. I remember prevaricating over them when ages when I found them, and eventually leaving the store and making it all the way back to the car before realising that if I left them behind, I’d regret it. I went back, bought them, and put them on right away, and as soon as I did, I knew I’d made the right decision – especially considering they were on sale!

Having a proper “photo spot” is making it much easier for me to take regular photos for the Shoe Challenge, although it doesn’t make for very interesting shots, I’m afraid. You’re not missing much, though: I wore this dress purely because it was new, and when I get a new dress, I always want to wear it right away. I didn’t do anything particularly exciting in this outfit, though (and I dressed it down a bit with a cardigan over the top when I went out), but at least I did manage to save another pair of shoes in it!

I love how swishy this dress is: it was my first purchase from Closet, which is a brand I’ve been stalking for over a year now, and I suspect it won’t be the last. I’m planning to wear it in the winter, too, with tights, although I’m trying my best not to think about that dreaded time. Or about tights, come to think of it. (I hate wearing tights.)

I’m really pleased to have made it into the “thirties” with my Shoe Challenge this week. Now, if I could just stop ADDING to the collection…

Maybe next year I’ll do a green dress challenge? A green dress every day? Anyone? No? Ah.

  • That’s a very pretty dress. I love green too. I’m thinking next year I might do a handbag challenge since I seem to keep accumulating handbags. I can’t help it… I don’t go out to buy a handbag, they just kind of … happen!

  • I really love that dress! Green looks nice on you, so wear it as much as you can! I am so far behind on my shoe challenge, but I have been so busy trying to prepare for my vacation and then with moving, that I don’t know if I can catch up. I’m going to try my best to get back on track. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • The hardest part for me has always been taking the photos (and then finding the time to get them off the camera, upload them etc): I’m hoping it’ll be easier now that I have a spot I can take them in without having to clear stuff out of the way first! (It just won’t be as interesting to look at!)

  • Green is such a pretty colour on you! And of course I love the shoes, I wish to have a pair of Vivienne Westwood for Melissa shoes myself someday ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Amazing dress, you look great in it, as always of course. Like the shoes too, but I prefer the ones with the cherries! ๐Ÿ™‚ They are so cute….
I don’t think I would ever get bored of this photoshoot location for your photos. I can’t take my eyes off the shoe shelves every time. But even those can’t steal the spotlight from you! You always look so gorgeous!

  • I always get jealous when I see those shoes, I want them so bad. I love the Closet dresses, I bought lbd by Closet and it’s amazing, especailly considering it didn’t cost much!

  • Green is amazing! So, keep on buying green dresses, why not – and especially because you look so beautiful in green (well… you look beautiful anyway, any color, as usual, cause you are beautiful!) I loved the pictures and I love these shoes! Guess what, I’m planning to wear green on Monday – I was invited to a psychic party, no joke! ๐Ÿ™‚
By the way… aaargh… I watched that movie twice… plus the 1946 version… that was one of the themes of my Master’s oral exam… reading that now triggered memories that, aaargh… no, don’t worry, I got the degree, so, it’s past! The movie was beautiful!
And keep on adding shoes to your collection, please! They are always beautiful!

    • Haha, well at least it was worth it to get the degree ๐Ÿ™‚ I actually re-watched it a few weeks ago because Terry hadn’t seen it, and wanted to steal her wardobe again – all that green made my head spin!

  • Great pictures. My $0.02 analysis of why you’re drawn to green dresses is because you’re trying to avoid the repetition of the trauma you suffered when you lost your previous green dress. This way, if you have a dozen of them, it won’t hurt so much if one of them goes missing (again). ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • I would have no objection to wearing green for the rest of my life. My favorite color ever!
Amber, I LOOOVEEEEE your hair in the pics! Curls look so cute on you ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Those shoes look fantastic with the green dress! I love Vivienne Westwood, but haven’t quite made it to owning a pair as yet. And yes, please do a green dress challenge – I will gladly take part!
