week24shoechallenge Shoeper Shoe Challenge Week 24 Roundup

I can’t quite believe it’s Friday already! It seems like just a couple of days ago I was putting together last week’s Shoe Challenge, and now here we are again! Time certainly flies when you’re saving shoes…

Speaking of saving shoes, here are the ones you managed to save from certain death this week. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, wearing equally wonderful shoes!

Friday Fix: Christian Louboutin Big Dorcet 120 suede pumps

With a heel similar to the Big Lips and Open Lips styles, here’s Christian Louboutin’s Big Dorect peep toes, which differ from the aforementioned shoes in terms of their d’orsay cut and crossover straps. They’re still perilously high and super-sexy, but I think the wide, elastic straps help tone the look down just a little bit, while not detracting too much attention from that heel.

The only thing I’m not so keen on about these is the tiny little peep toe…

… which is SO tiny it doesn’t really seem worth the trouble. More of a “peep-nail” than a “peep-toe”, really. Still, it doesn’t make much of a difference to the look of the shoe, so who am I to quibble?

These are £635 at Net-a-Porter, and you can click here to buy them.

Miu Miu curve heel glitter pumps

Miu Miu is a brand I’ve always associated with amazing, glitter-covered shoes, but these ones stand out even for them: in fact, the glitter almost pales into insignificance next to that curved heel!

There are a few different variations of this style available as part of the Fall 2011 collection, and for some reason, none of them look quite “real” to me: I think the combination of the heel shape and high vamp makes them look almost like sculptures or toys, and the shoe on the right of the image also reminds me very much of shoes from a couple of centuries ago, which I’ve occasionally seen on display in museums and suchlike. (Minus the glitter, obviously.)

Like the heel, but prefer an ankle boot? Don’t worry, Miu Miu can help you out with that, too:

So there’s a curve-heeled Miu Miu for every occasion, basically. Or for every occassion tha requires you to wear glitter on your feet, anyway.

What do you think of them, though?

Yves Saint Laurent ‘Jinny’ black suede wedges

These Yves Saint Laurent wedges jumped out at me from the Net-a-Porter website yesterday, in a way that a plain black wedge doesn’t normally have the power to do. That’s probably because these are anything but plain black wedges, of course: they’re black, sure, but the gold trim and layered suede uppers make them worthy of a second look:

Despite the peep toe, these have a very Autumnal feel for me, possibly because the cut-out suede is vaguely leaf-shaped. I don’t normally wear peep toes with tights, but I think these shoes could lend themselves to that look: what do you think?

These are £1,015: click here to buy them.

Giuseppe Zanotti velvet sandals with crystal cones

These are the kind of shoes that could do some serious damage. To me, I mean. Because I’m such a klutz there’s just no telling what kind of trouble I could get into with these attached to my feet:

crystal cones Giuseppe Zanotti velvet sandals with crystal conesLet’s just hope they’re not as sharp as they look, hmm?

Danger aside, I think this is possibly the first time I’ve featured a pair of shoes with a cone embellishment. We’ve had bows, flowers, buttons… even faces and rodents and other strange items. But never cones, so kudos to Giuseppe Zanotti for being the first to break the “cones on shoes” drought.

What do you think of the shoes, though? Other than the fact that they’re wallet-breakingly expensive, obviously? (They’re £454: click here to buy them.)

Blue Suede Shoes: KG by Kurt Geiger ‘Bella’ Mary Janes

blue suede shoes kurt geiger bella Blue Suede Shoes: KG by Kurt Geiger Bella Mary Janes

These shoes will no doubt be familiar to those of you who subscribe to the Kurt Geiger email service, and as soon as that message arrived in my inbox, I knew I was going to have a lot of trouble resisting them. They’re called ‘Bella’, and they’re well-named, because they truly are beautiful, mixing blue suede uppers with a green trim, strap and bow. Or at least, I think they’re blue: the KG website actually describes them as purple, and they do look purplish on the site itself. Hmm, I think I may have to check these out in person, strictly for research purposes.

Blue or purple, though, I think the colour combination is a great way to make a simple shape really pop, and they’ve gone straight onto my wish list. If you want to add them to yours, too, you can click here to view them on the Kurt Geiger website, where they’re currently retailing for £140.

P.S. For those of you who followed yesterday’s saga with the person who was using my photo and website banner on their Facebook page, I just wanted to quickly update to let you know that the person has now removed the photos and apologised. She claims to be “an admirer” who just liked the photos and didn’t realise she was doing something wrong by using them.
