    Shoeperwoman Shops the Schuh Sale

    by
    8

The Schuh sale also started this week. This has actually rather upset me because:

    a) There are about a hundred pairs of shoes I’d like to buy from it (and I’m not exaggerating), but I’ve promised myself I won’t buy any more shoes now, at least until NEXT payday.

    b) This happened:

schuh garda wedges Shoeperwoman Shops the Schuh Sale

    Schuh ‘Garda’ wedges, £39.99

And I paid full price for them. Don’t you just HATE it when that happens?

Here are some more shoes I’d buy if it wasn’t for that pesky ban:

schuh prince platforms Shoeperwoman Shops the Schuh Sale

    Green ‘Prince’ platforms, £39.99

Yes, I know they’re green. But they’re NOT SUEDE. I don’t have green shoes that aren’t suede. Enough said.

schuh thelma courts Shoeperwoman Shops the Schuh SaleSchuh ‘Thelma’ courts, £39.99

Just adorable, especially with one of those 50s style skirts I’m currently obsessed with.

1118527270 main Shoeperwoman Shops the Schuh SaleSchuh ‘Cleo’ heels, £34.99

These aren’t something I’d generally go for – they’re a little too clumpy at the front – but they’re available in two different fabrics, and something about the quirky prints and chunky shape reminds me of Miu Miu’s collection from last season.

schuh pretty tie court shoes Shoeperwoman Shops the Schuh SaleSchuh ‘Pretty Tie’ court shoes, £39.99

Minnie Mouse shoes. But in a good way.

And now I’m going to go and take all my credit cards and throw them into a fire, so I can resist the temptation of these, and all of the other beautiful shoes in this sale. I’ll be weeping on my bed, if anyone needs me…

Carvela green suede ‘Go’ sandals from Sarenza

    by

Just before I headed off on holiday, my Fairy Shoemothers at Sarenza got in touch and offered to let me choose another pair of shoes from their website, as part of the Brand Ambassador program I’m participating in. (I know, lucky or what?)

I didn’t have time to place an order before I left, but I knew the very thought of it would be something that would help me shift my usual post-holiday blues, and I was right, because look what arrived on the Sarenza website the very day I got back to the UK?

carvela green suede go platform sandals Carvela green suede Go sandals from Sarenza
They’re Carvela’s ‘Go’ sandals, which I wrote about back in May, and as soon as I spotted them on the Sarenza website, my decision was made. And it had taken all of about 30 seconds.

carvela go sandals Carvela green suede Go sandals from SarenzaThey arrived yesterday afternoon, and are even nicer than I was expecting, because the green is a little more vivid than it looks in the product shots. It’s exactly the shade of green I love most, and although in my original post about these shoes I’d expressed some reservations about the heel, I actually think they work really well:

gold stiletto heels Carvela green suede Go sandals from Sarenza

You get these on via the little zips at the back, which jingle as you walk in them – Shoeperman will always know where I am when I’m wearing these!

green suede sandals carvela go Carvela green suede Go sandals from SarenzaI ordered my usual size in these, and they fit well, so I’d say they’re fairly true to size. So far I’ve only worn them to parade around the house in, so it’s hard to tell how comfortable they’ll be, but they seem easy enough to walk in so far, so fingers (or maybe toes) crossed.

I’m really excited to start working these into my wardrobe (and I’m not forgetting that I still have to “save” the pair of shoes I received from Sarenza last month, so look out for a Shoe Challenge post with those soon!): thanks again to Sarenza for the opportunity to make them mine!

Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island Sale

    by
    7

Today marks the start of the River Island sale, which is good news for me, but very bad news for my bank account, because as some of you know, River Island has been one of my favourite high street stores this season, and not just because of the shoes (which have been a Shoeperwoman favourite for years): this season they’ve also stocked a fabulous range of 50s inspired dresses and skirts, which have proved almost impossible (and sometimes literally impossible) to resist!

Here are some of my favourite picks from the current sale:

river island light green bow sandals Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island Salelight green bow sandals, £15

At the time of writing, these were sold out in everything but a UK size 5 (sizes do tend to sell out quickly in the online version of the sale, so you have to get in fast!), but if you have a store near you, you may still be able to find them. The white version, however, which has contrasting black bows, was still available in all sizes.

gold platform sandals Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island SaleGold platform sandals, £30

If ever there was a shoe that said “70s disco”, these sandals would be it. Do you want your shoes to say “70s disco”, though? I’ll leave that one up to you.

floral print wedges Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island SaleFloral print wedges, £25

Again, these are selling out fast online, but the stores do tend to have more stock, so if you want them, and you live in the UK, don’t despair – you may just need to visit the store in person. And if you do, you’ll get yourself the perfect summer sandal, for just £25.

polka dot sandals Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island SalePolka dot sandals, £10

Well, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t show you something with polka dots on it, would I?

Unfortunately, the shoes I had my eyes on didn’t go into the sale, so I managed to leave the site without buying any new footwear. I wasn’t quite so strong-willed in the clothing department, however. Here are a few of the items that sorely tested my resolve:

50s style prom dress Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island Sale50s-style apple print dress, £15

This is actually the same dress I wore in this shoe challenge, only in a different print. I also have this dress in a beige/floral print, and absolutely love the shape of it, so I’m pleased to see River Island releasing it in other prints, even although it does make me want to collect them all.

orange bow prom dress Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island SaleOrange prom dress, £20

I’ve loved this dress for a while too, but was forced to conclude that the colour wouldn’t really work with my hair – it also looks a little shorter than I like, but would be super-cute on someone else!

yellow tie front top Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island SaleYellow tie-front top, £10

This was sold out in my size, otherwise it would be on its way to me now. I’m addicted to this colour at the moment, and this would look perfect with capri pants or jeans.

50s style skirts Shoeperwoman Shops the River Island Sale50s style skirts, £15

More 50-style fashion. This is my favourite skirt length, so I’m stocking up now, while they’re easy to find – next year I know we’ll be back to all-minis, all the time! (Not that I have anything against minis, you understand – I just like having the option of something a little longer, too!)

As I said, I didn’t quite manage to leave the sale empty-handed, and no doubt you’ll be seeing at least one of these items in a shoe challenge soon! What about you: have you been buying anything from the current round of summer sales?

Point toe patent flats in red and blue from Marks & Spencer

red ballet flats Point toe patent flats in red and blue from Marks & Spencer

As soon as I spotted these shoes on the Marks & Spencer website, I instantly started to covet them. That’s something that very rarely happens with me and flat shoes, much less pointed toe ones, but the brightly coloured uppers come in two of my very favourite shoe colours, the cream trim gives them a rather pretty/nautical feel, and the bow… well, you all know how I feel about bows on shoes, don’t you?

I also think that, in this case, the pointed toe works really well. These have a very “Audrey Hepburn-esque” feel about them, and would be perfect with cropped pants or 50s-style skirts.

These have just been reduced to £15 in the sale, and you can click here to buy them at Marks & Spencer.

Jean-Michel Cazabat zebra print peep toes

    by
    2

zebra print peep toes Jean Michel Cazabat zebra print peep toesI’ve long been a fan of animal print on shoes and accessories (although not on anything else, it has to be said), but when I do wear animal print, it always tends to be of the leopard variety. I’ve been totally neglecting the rest of the animal kingdom, in other words, so I’m putting that right today by showing you these zebra print peep toes by Jean-Michel Cazabat.

Although the print is on the wild side (no pun intended. Well, OK, maybe a bit intended…), the rest of the shoe has been kept really simple here, which I think is the only way to wear animal print. I must admit, I still prefer my standard leopard print, but if you want to dabble with the zebras, you can click here to buy these from Shopbop, where they’re $260.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 19: June Gloom

    by

blue dress red shoes Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 19: June Gloom
    What
: Christian Louboutin ‘Very Very’ wedges
    When: June, 2011
    Where: Los Angeles, California
With: Blue dress (ASOS), red belt (my mum’s)

As much as I’d loved San Francisco, I must admit, I was looking forward to the comparative heat of Southern California, partly so I could get back into my heels and dresses, rather than having to stay wrapped up, and in flats, all the time. Unfortunately, I had to wait a few more days: L.A. in June is prone to a weather pattern known as the June Gloom, and our first few days there were on the chilly side (although it did normally warm up by mid-afternoon, thankfully).

This outfit was worn on the first warm day we had, and I was so happy to be able to dress like “me” again!

Giuseppe Zanotti green glitter toe cap ballet flats

    by
    2

giuseppe zanotti green ballet flats Giuseppe Zanotti green glitter toe cap ballet flatsGiuseppe Zanotti is best known for his stiletto heels, but he does make other types of shoes, too, from time to time, including that old classic, the toe-cap ballet flat. If you were expecting Zanottis ballet flats to be as classic and – let’s just say it – boring as the rest of the genre (or most of it, anyway), you can think again. Well, it wouldn’t be like Zanotti to make an ordinary shoe, now, would it?

Nope, these have been doused in a huge dose of emerald green glitter, and then dipped in the gold version of the stuff for good measure. The effect is oddly Christmassy for me: I know I’ve talked a lot about green and gold, and my enduring love for that particular colour combination, but I think this is a little bit too much, even for me. For some reason, I’m imagining Santa’s (female) elves wearing these. Is that just me?

As I’ve also mentioned once or twice or a thousand-and-eleven times, I refuse to pay more than around £20 for ballet flats (and normally much less than that, if the truth be told), so the thought of paying £300 for these ones makes me feel almost as green as they are. If that sounds just fine to you, however, you can click here to buy them direct from the designer.

Beautiful Bridal Shoes: Nine West ‘Playtag’ peep toes

    by
    4

nine west wedding shoes Beautiful Bridal Shoes: Nine West Playtag peep toesI was just about to describe these shoes as having “mid height” heels, then I took a closer look at the product description, and realised that they’re actually 4″, which isn’t even remotely “mid” height, is it? I guess I’m just so used to looking at all of those super-high platforms now that even a shoe that would formerly have seemed high, now appears almost low in comparison! When it comes to wedding shoes, however, I think that’s actually a good thing. You don’t want to go for something too “trendy” on your wedding day, because the shoes will date really quickly, and you’ll look back and wonder what on earth you were thinking.

That’s why I think these Nine West shoes are perfect: the style is classic and timeless, but thanks to that flower detail on the front, they’re not boring. The satin uppers also have a lovely, soft sheen, which makes them stand out, too.

Of course, if you’re worried about standing all day in four inch heels, fear not: it just gives you an excellent excuse to buy a second, stand-by pair for the evening!

These are £93 at Spartoo, and, as an added blessing, they’re also available in half-sizes, making it easier for you to get the perfect fit.
