Marc by Marc Jacobs ‘Vinty’ wedge pumps

I have far too many pairs of neutral coloured heels in my collection, but it just occurred to me (right at the moment I discovered these Marc by Marc Jacobs shoes, funnily enough), that I don’t actually own any wedge versions. My love of wedges is well documented on this site, but if you’re yet to be convinced, let me just say that these shoes will do everything for your legs that a stiletto will do, but will be much easier to walk in. And the colour will go with everything.

Convinced yet? If you are, these are $330, and you can click here to buy them. Well, I didn’t promise they were going to be cheap, did I?

Oasis ‘Anella’ gold glitter ballet flats

Oh heels, glitter can look a little bit over the top, if you’re not careful. (Although it can also look fabulous, depending on the shoe.) On a pair of flats, however, it can be a great way to make what can be a rather boring style look a whole lot more interesting, and Oasis have added to that effect on these ‘Anella’ flats by adding a tulle corsage to the toe. The result is a very pretty flat which would be great for special occasions, but could look just a good with a simple pair of jeans.

These are £25: click here to buy them.

Dune ‘Valentina’ polka dot platform peep toes

There’s something about black and white dots that makes me always want to wear them with red accents. I know it’s obvious, but it works, and these ‘Valentina’ peep toes from Dune are a great example of that. You don’t need to wear these with red accents, because Dune have done that for you, adding a bright red platform and heel, plus red piping, to the bold polka dot pattern.

I’m sure it’ll come as no surprise to anyone to know that I love these shoes: the print is one of my favourites, and these would look perfect with jeans, or with a plain pencil skirt. These are also available in a multicolour stripe pattern, and are £85: click here to buy them.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 16: The Bright Side

What: Dorothy Perkins nude peep toes
    When: Sunday, May 29th, 2011
Where: Some last minute holiday shopping
With: Red jeans (J Brand, c/o Shopbop), stripey sweater (H&M), blazer (New Look kids department); Classic Q Little Ukita satchel (Marc By Marc Jacobs c/o Shopbop)

Today’s a public holiday here in the UK (I know, another one!) so I hadn’t actually intended to put up any posts, but since I have so much ground to make up with the Shoe Challenge, I figured I’d just sneak on these photos from yesterday, so I can head off on holiday safe in the knowledge that another pair of shoes have been saved!

What: Charlotte Russe bow peep toes
    When: Friday, May 27th, 2011
    Where: Around town
With: Bow jacket (Matalan), black trousers (TK Maxx), bag (Marc by Marc Jacobs, c/o Shopbop)

Look, I’m alive! And actually doing a Shoe Challenge!

And, OK, it’s just a crappy “standing in front of my shoe shelves” challenge, and this was literally the ONLY photo that wasn’t blurry. But when you consider that this time last week I wasn’t even wearing shoes (or makeup, or clothes that weren’t jeans and whichever ancient sweater came to hand), I figured it still counts. It’ll have to, really, because as Denise pointed out earlier this week, we’ve now passed 100 days of the Shoe Challenge, and sadly for me, I’m lagging waaaay behind, so I’m starting to get a bit worried about how I’m going to save all of those shoes! (I guess not buying new ones would be a good start there, but, well…)

charlotte russe shoes Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 15: Back to Business

These shoes are by Charlotte Russe, and they’re a few years old now, but I still get a lot of use out of them. I figured they looked a bit business-like, somehow, with the little jacket, hence the title of the post. And although they were super-cheap, I really like looking down at the little bows! As for the jacket, well, it is technically a “jacket”, but the short sleeves render it pretty useless as outerwear, especially with the cold weather we’ve been having lately, so I just treat it like any other top – and throw a trench coat over the top when I’m going outside in it!

Aaaaand I think that’s it, for what has to be the shortest Shoe Challenge in Shoeperwoman history. It really does look like I’ll be having to take a LOT of shoes with me on holiday next week if I want to save all the summery ones before the summer ends!

    Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

    Important announcement for Shoe Challengettes!

shoeperwomans shoe challenge Important announcement for Shoe Challengettes!Hi Challengettes!

As some of you may know, I’m off to California next week, so I just wanted to give you all a quick update about how the Shoe Challenge will operate for the next few weeks, while I’m gone.

When I first started the Shoe Challenge, I honestly had no idea how many people would want to take part. I figured maybe 10, or 15 if I was lucky, and as I also assumed that most of those people would probably only do one challenge per week, if that, it would be pretty easy to handle it during any vacations I happened to take. I’d either just take an hour or so out of each week to put together the roundup while I was away, or, if that wasn’t possible, I’d do one big roundup when I got back.

Of course, it didn’t quite work out that way, and to my absolute amazement (and joy!), we now have over 90 participants, many of whom are getting through multiple pairs of shoes each week. As wonderful as that is to watch, it does mean that, even with the best will in the world, there’s just no way I can hope to keep up with the roundups while I’m on vacation: quite apart from the time it takes to put together every week, we’ll also be travelling around a lot and I may not always have reliable internet access, so I don’t want to promise to deliver the roundup as usual, and then not be able to do it. And, of course, if I just leave the entries to pile up until I get back, I’ll come home to a few hundred emails, so that’s not going to work either.

    So here’s what I propose:

Each Friday, from now until I get back, I’ll schedule a weekly roundup post which will essentially be an open thread. Rather than emailing in your photos, you simply post your links in the comments section of that post, and that way everyone else will be able to visit your blogs and see what you’ve been up to. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to post your images on the Shoeperwoman Facebook page, or on a free image site like Photobucket or similar, and link to that.

Now, obviously I know this isn’t ideal, and it won’t be as easy as seeing all of the photos in one place, and I’m really, really sorry about that. I just totally underestimated how popular the challenge would be, and this is the only way I can think of to keep the roundups going while I’m away (and make sure I don’t come back to hundred of images!). I promise this will only be for the duration of my holiday, though, and things will get back to normal as soon as I get back, so I hope you’ll all understand, and will bear with me for the next few weeks!

I don’t leave for a few days yet, though, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Shoeper Shoe Challenge Week 15 Roundup

roundup Shoeper Shoe Challenge Week 15 Roundup

As you can probably tell from the much more professional look of today’s roundup, Shoeperman is still at the helm, so many, many thanks to him for once again taking over! I also have an announcement coming up soon about how the Challenge will work while I’m on vacation next month, so stay tuned for that.

As for me, well, it’s been one of those weeks again, and by that I mean “one of those weeks where I didn’t save any shoes”. All is not lost, however – or not yet, anyway – and I may even manage to save a pair of shoes this very afternoon. Or, you know, maybe not. We’ll see. For now, though, I know you just want to see the Challengettes, so here they are: enjoy!

christian louboutin lady peep spikes Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Lady Peep Spikes 150 leather pumps

I’ve shown you versions of Louboutin’s ‘Lady Peep’ platforms before, but I hope you’ll forgive one more, because a shoe like this just demands to be seen, doesn’t it?

These are actually sold out online at the moment, despite the $1,375 price tag, so this picture is a close as I’m likely to get to them. Ah, well, a girl can dream…
