Shoeper Shoe Challenge 2011: An update

shoeper shoe challenge1 Shoeper Shoe Challenge 2011: An updateWell, it’s been an amazing weekend for the Shoeper Shoe Challenge, and I’m amazed to report that, at the time of writing, we already have 41 confirmed participants, which is a huge relief to me, because when I posted about the new challenge on Friday, I was absolutely convinced no one would want to take part and I’d be left doing the challenge all on my lonesome again!

Thankfully that didn’t happen, and I’m really excited to have so many of you taking part: it’s going to make things a lot more interesting this time around! Here’s a few brief housekeeping points for those of you taking part – or thinking about it…

    1. Participants List
The Participants’ List has now been updated, and can be found here. If you’re on the list and have a blog, it would be great if you could link back – you’ll find the buttons at the bottom of this post: if you have any problems adding it, just drop me a comment and Shoeperman will do his best to help you!

    2. Emailing Photos
To make it a little easier for me to keep on top of email submissions, I’ve set up a gmail account especially for the shoe challenge, so please send your photos to shoepershoechallenge @gmail.com (without the spaces) from now on. If you’re going to be blogging the challenge, meanwhile, you don’t have to do anything: as long as I have your blog URL on the list, I’ll check every week for updates, but if you want to email me the URL of your posts, just to make sure I don’t miss any, you’re welcome to do that too.

    3. Twitter
If you’re on Twitter, you can use the hashtag #shoepershoe on your tweets to allow other participants to find you. I’ll be putting together a list of participants on Twitter soon, and will update when it’s complete.
Important! I only check Twitter once or twice a day (sometimes less), and have a few different Twitter accounts to manage, so so if you have questions etc, please either email them or comment on the blog, rather than relying on Twitter: I’m very easily confused, so am trying to keep all conversation about the challenge in one place, so I don’t miss anyone out!

    4. Weekly Roundups
As I mentioned in my last post, once the challenge gets going, I’m going to be posting weekly roundups of everyone’s photos. Some of you have expressed concerns about not being able to post every week, so I just wanted to reassure you all that the roundups will be a very informal thing, and will just feature everyone who happens to have completed a challenge that week: there’s absolutely no pressure to have photos ready every week, or even every fortnight/month/whatever – you can complete challenges as frequently or as infrequently as you like.

OK, I think that’s it for now! Feel free to ask any questions in the comments, and remember, you can sign up for the challenge any time before it ends.

P.S. If you’re signing up for the challenge, please comment on the original post, just to make it easier for me to keep track – thanks!

Miss KG ‘Memphis’ bow slingback shoes

I’ve been trying to stay away from the Kurt Geiger website recently, lest I fall into further temptation, but I ventured there today and happened upon these ‘Memphis’ bow slingbacks, which have a “daytime” look (black suede, fabric bow) and a “nighttime” one (gold glitter). Of course, you could wear either of them any time you like, but I’d be hard-pushed to choose between the two: I’m always drawn to black and cream combos, but the glittery gold is just so pretty, too!

These are £75 and you can click here to buy a pair from Kurt Geiger. Which ones would you go for?

Giuseppe Zanotti rafia platform wedge sandals

giuseppe zanotti rafia platform wedges Giuseppe Zanotti rafia platform wedge sandalsOh no! It’s that Giuseppe Zanotti extreme wedge I loved so much this winter, revamped for summer in the shape of these raffia soled wedges. Now I get to spend all summer lusting after the same shoes (more or less) I lusted after all winter!

As you can see, these shoes are strictly for those of you with a head for heights, but if you think you can walk in them (or are at least willing to give it a try), the basic shape is a summer classic, with a simple black upper attached to that amazing platform wedge.

Of course, being Zanotti, these don’t come cheap: they’re $657 and you can click here to buy them from Colette.

    Shoeperwoman’s Shoe Challenge 2011

    by
    200

shoeperwomans shoe challenge1 Shoeperwomans Shoe Challenge 2011

Last year, I set myself the challenge of wearing every pair of shoes in my collection at least once in the space of a year, and documenting them on my blog. Just to make things a little more interesting, I also promised to dispose of any pairs of shoes I didn’t manage to “save” in this way. You can read more about that challenge, and how I got on, here.

This year, I’m doing it all over again: but this time I’m asking you to join me!

The next Shoe Challenge will run from February 14th 2011 (just in time for you to get dressed up for Valentine’s Day) to February 14th 2012. You can join in any time, as long as you complete the challenge by the official end date.

    The Rules:

    • You must wear every pair of shoes/boots you own before the end of the challenge. (And it doesn’t matter whether you own five pairs or five hundred – everyone is welcome!)
    • You must take photos of yourself wearing each pair of shoes as “evidence”. (Full length outfit shots only: photos showing just your feet don’t count!)
    • Use ‘em or lose ‘em: any shoes you haven’t worn by the end of the challenge must be disposed of.

You’ll find a longer version of the rules here: it’s a good idea to read them before signing up, so you know exactly what you’re in for! You’ll also find the Shoe Challenge F.A.Q here - if you have any questions that aren’t covered, just drop me a comment.

    How to take part:

If you’ve read the rules and you still want to take part, here’s what to do!

    1. Count your shoes and boots: it’s OK, I’ll wait here while you do it…
    2. Post the badge you’ll find below in the sidebar of your blog (or anywhere else on your homepage).
    3. Begin saving shoes!
    4. Link back to Shoeperwoman.com from your Shoe Challenge posts.

Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin 140 Canvas Greissimo Peep Vichy Pumps

christian louboutin gingham peep toes Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin 140 Canvas Greissimo Peep Vichy PumpsHow much do I want these shoes? SO much. That’s how much. I mean, just imagine how great they’d be for summer? I’m picturing them with a simple pair of jeans and capris and a 50s-style knot-front shirt, but they’d be so much fun to style with other items too, and despite being very eye-catching (and also very “Summer 2011″, with lots of designers sending this kind of kitsch-but-cute style down their runways for summer), the print is also timeless enough to allow you to get lots of wear out of them – good thing, given that they’re £486!

Sigerson Morrison red suede over the knee boots

You all know how much I love a pair of red boots (It’s the shoeperhero side of me, I can’t help it. Don’t worry, I wouldn’t wear them with nothing but knickers-over-tights or anything. I’m not Wonder Woman!) so I just had to show you these ones by Sigerson Morrison.

Now, before you start getting excited about these, I have to ‘fess up and tell you that I dug them out of the depths of the Shopbop sale section, which means they’re now only available in a US size 6. And actually, at the time of writing, there’s only one pair left, according to Shopbop. Who will be the lucky woman who gets them? Whoever she is, she’ll pay $497.50, which may sound a lot, but which is still 50% less than the original price, and she’ll get herself a pair of boots that will be guaranteed to make people stare.

Are you that woman? If you are, just click here to claim your prize. I mean boots.

I know there’s nothing very different or unique about these shoes, but there’s also something rather Louboutin-on-a-budget about them too, so I’ll take a pair in every colour, please, and I promise to wear them until they fall apart. Not that it would be difficult, of course: this particular style, in these three colours, would be the only shoes I’d need to get through the summer (and a large part of the rest of the year, too), and as they cost just $89 each, they won’t cost a fortune, either.
