Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Miss ChaCha slingbacks

christian louboutin miss chacha Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Miss ChaCha slingbacksI feel like I’m cheating a bit with this Friday Fix, because these shoes are basically just the peep toe/slingback version of the Lady Page pumps I’ve been coveting ever since they came out. Still, I firmly believe you can never get too much of a good thing, so here’s another take on that ruffle-fronted trends. I don’t think they quite measure up to the beauty of their bigger sisters, but they make a beautiful shoe all the same.

Maison Martin Margiela wood print pumps

    Shoes made from wood, anyone?

OK, you got me: these aren’t actually carved out if a block of wood, although that’s obviously the effect the designers were after here. Actually, the uppers are a wood-print patent, and the sloping effect of the front of the shoe helps add to that impression. These are very unusual, very typical of Maison Martin Margiela, and, some would say, very strange. I’m fascinated by them, and love to look at them, although wearing them would probably be different matter altogether.

    What do you think?

I really want to be able to like these shoes.

I mean, the shape is great. The colour? Fabulous. The stripes on the sole and platform? Love ‘em:

But. That platform. Kind of looks like the wearer of the shoe stepped in a big puddle of glue, and then allowed it to dry, doesn’t it? Or at least, it does to me. Without it, I’d have been all over these like a rash. With it, I’m having to consign them to the “good shoes ruined” pile. I hate it when that happens.

Steve Madden pink tulle ‘Fifi’ platforms

Yesterday I showed you a River Island shoe which reminded me of a Steve Madden design, so today I’m bringing you a Steve Madden shoe that instantly made me think of a pair by River Island: the pink mega-platforms I featured last month. Like those shoes, I wasn’t quite sure about these ‘Fifi’ platforms at first: I always feel this style of shoe has the potential to look stripper-ish, but the more I look at these, the more I like them. The pink tulle uppers help to soften the effect of the high heel and platform, and with the right dress, I think they could be stunning.

These are also available in black, and are $99.95: click here to buy them.

“Oh, look,” I thought when these shoes first appeared on my screen. “Karmaloop must be selling Kurt Geiger shoes now, for surely those are the Echinacea shoes I’ve had my beady little eyes on for weeks now!” Then I looked closer and realised that, whoops, no, these are actually by Kelsi Dagger, although, like the Kurt Geiger shoes, these also come with a detachable bow, which is designed to be worn on any part of the foot you wish.

These are available in black, as well as the pink and red versions shown above, and they’re a little cheaper than the Kurt Geigers, at $100. Click here to buy them.

Black Victorian lace-up boots from Miss Selfridge

The Victoriana look never seems to go out of style, and it’s not hard to see why: there’s just something very elegant about this look, isn’t there? These Miss Selfridge lace-front boots are probably going to be one of the more affordable variations on this particular style this winter, at £80, although you may want to set your alarm a few minutes earlier than usual to allow for some “lacing up” time. A big advantage of those laces, however, is the fact that they’ll make the leg-width reasonably adjustable: good news for all of us who struggle to find boots that are the perfect fit for our calves!

Karen Millen black diamante peep toes

Karen Millen’s footwear has proven to be a little like the buses for me this year: I didn’t see anything I liked for ages, and now lots of beautiful shoes have come along at one - first there was those beautiful lace peep toes from last week, and now I found these gorgeous little diamante numbers.

Diamante shoes can be really difficult to get right, and can end up looking a tad “rhinestone cowboy”. These ones, however, create the effect of snowflakes scattered all over the uppers (or is it just me who thinks that?), and it gives them a lovely, winter-appropriate effect.

Like them? They’re £199 and you can click here to buy them.
