Saturday Shoe Shot

polka dot wedges Saturday Shoe Shot

(Wearing my thrifted polka dot wedges from yesterday, and hoping they don’t get rained on.)

On today’s agenda: making an appointment for an eye-test, running some errands, and possibly continuing my endless, and so far fruitless, hunt for a new pair of jeans: the ones I wore yesterday are now about three years old, and really need to be retired, but so far I’ve totally failed in my mission to track down the perfect replacements. Why are good jeans so hard to find?

What are you all up to today? And what will you be wearing on your feet while you’re doing it?

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 39: Thrifting in Edinburgh

What: New Look navy platform pumps
When: Friday, July 30th, 2010
Where: Thrifting and lunch with Shoeperman in Edinburgh
With: Jeans (Dorothy Perkins); t-shirt (H&M), jacket (Forever 21); shoulder bag o’doom (Accessorize)

When I lived in Edinburgh, I used to go thrift shopping a lot. The city has a great selection of both charity shops and vintage stores, and it’s basically a bargain-lovers dream, but it had been a while since I had a good trawl through the racks, so today I decided to give myself the day off work and head into the city.

And because I’m me, I decided to do it in 5″ heels.

Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Catenita glitter slingbacks

christian louboutin catenita pumps Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Catenita glitter slingbacks

Some people love glitter and other people hate it.

Going by this example, I think it’s fair to say that Christian Louboutin really, really loves it. And if you do too, a mirrored platform and a sky-scraper heel might just make you love them even more. Or they might make you feel like you’re wearing the shoe equivalent of a disco on your feet, who knows.

These are the Catenita glitter slingbacks, and they’re $895 from the Christian Louboutin official website.

As beautiful as they are, Casadei shoes are always heart-stoppingly expensive, which is why I alway get excited when I come across a pair on Yoox.com. Until, that is, I look at the price and realise that, even on sale, they’re still £450.

Ah well, a girl can dream and if your dreams tend to reveolve around blue suede peep toes with crystal-encrusted flowers on their toes, well, maybe this photo will be of some use to you.

If you want to make the dream a reality, however, these are available in UK sizes 2 – 6 and you can buy a pair here.

Formspring Thursday: Red shoes or black shoes?

Anglomania womens Lady Dragon Wax Black Shoes 1 Formspring Thursday: Red shoes or black shoes?

A quick roundup of some of the questions I’ve been answering this week on Formspring:

Red or Black V. Westwood Lady Dragon Wax Orb Seal Slingbacks? They’re currently on Brand Alley for £39 a pair!

Whichever you think you’ll wear most! I like red shoes, which work better with my wardrobe than black, but if you think you’ll get more use out of the black, go for those!

What are some of your tips for blogging, that helped make your blog so successful?

I think consistency is probably the main thing. You have to be very dedicated, make sure the site is updated regularly and just keep at it, no matter what.

I am in love with Bertie’s San Antonio shoe but it seems like I have clocked on to them too late as they are no longer in stock anywhere (in a size 5). HELP! I MUST get these shoes for my girlfriend!

If they’re no longer sold anywhere, I think your best bet would be eBay – it’s the only place I know where you can sometimes pick up sold-out shoes (if you’re lucky!).

Sorry if this sounds rude but what date was your last foreveramber post? On my computer it says July 2nd, but I think you may have written more since then. Your blogs have stopped updating for me before, so i know that it isn’t you! Thankyou.

Hi! Don’t worry, you don’t sound rude at all! July 2nd was the last post – I’ve actually decided to have a break from Forever Amber for a while, so your computer is right!

I got a pair of Steve Maddens. It is a size too big.The problem is, I live in Ghana, West Africa, and the shoes were bought in New York.Is getting a cobbler to resize them a good idea? I will send the link in another message. Thanks.

I couldn’t open the link, but I actually think your cobbler is the only person who could answer this in any case. A good cobbler can work wonders, though, so it wouldn’t hurt to ask. Good luck!

‘I Love You’ ballet flats from Topshop

i love you shoes I Love You ballet flats from TopshopThese shoes love you. Do you love THEM, though, that’s the question?

Well, I think shoes with writing on them are always rather hit-or-miss, and for me, they usually end up being a “miss”. With that said, something about these ones appeals to me: I like the pale yellow uppers, and they do make a change from the usual, very simple ballet pumps we see so much of.

What do you think of them? They’re £18 at Topshop. Do you love them back?

Khaki gold-trimmed court shoes from Next

khaki gold court shoes next Khaki gold trimmed court shoes from Next

Next’s Autumn/Winter stock started to appear on their website last week, and as depressing as I always find the arrival of winter stock, I figured it would be rude not to take a look…

These khaki and gold court shoes were just one of the pairs of winter shoes that took my fancy. They’re not at all what the phrase “khaki shoes” would normally suggest to me, and I think I’d like them even more if the uppers were green or brown instead, but as they are they’re rather unusual, and the gold trim gives them a vaguely art deco kind of feel.

These are £40: buy them here.

Miu Miu two-tone patent leather pumps

miu miu two tone pumps Miu Miu two tone patent leather pumpsYup, Miu Miu definitely seem to be going for a much more classic look than usual for next season, and hot on the stiletto heels of those gorgeous sandals I showed you last week come these very ladylike two-tone pumps, which come with not one, but two bows on the toe.

These have a real ‘Park Avenue Princess’ feel to them, and wouldn’t be at all out of place in one of those black and white movies in which everyone’s dressed to the nines. For that reason alone, I love them: if you do too, head over to Net-a-Porter, where they’re £335.
