It’s another Bank Holiday in the UK today, as well as being Memorial Day here in the US, so I consider that my cue to let Shoeperwoman.com have a break, too!

I hope you’re having a great day, whether you’re on holiday or not, and don’t worry, I’ll have more shoes for you to look at tomorrow, so don’t forget to check back then!

Capsule Shoe Challenge – Day One!

florida 2010 dd Capsule Shoe Challenge Day One!

Shoes: Matalan red canvas wedges
With: dress (New Look); hat (Tosphop); bag (eBay); sunglasses (Gucci)

Well, after all of my worries about ash clouds and plane crashes, I made it to Florida safely! For day one of my capsule shoe challenge, I wore my trusty old wedges, which have decided to start pinching my toes a little when I walk long distances in them. Whoops. Flats or flip flops tomorrow, I guess!

Hope everyone’s having a great holiday weekend!

Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Hyper Prive peep toes

christian louboutin hyper prive Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Hyper Prive peep toesI’m right in the middle of some last-minute packing for my trip, so I’m keeping it simple and classic for this week’s Louboutin fix.

The Hyper Prive peep toe is one of those styles that will never go out of fashion… and which never seems to go on sale either, for that very reason. Choose basic black if you want to wear them to death, or go for soft gold leather if you’re looking for something a little dressier, that you’ll probably also be able to wear to death.

Once you’ve chosen your favourite, weep at the $865 price tag. And once you’ve finished weeping, either cough up and buy these at Barneys, or have a hunt around for a decent version on the high street…

Shoe Shopping With Shoeperwoman: Prada’s Chandelier shoes up close*

prada chandelier shoes 1 Shoe Shopping With Shoeperwoman: Pradas Chandelier shoes up close*

* or as “up close” as I could get with my phone camera when the staff in the store were looking on with interest…

For anyone wondering whether the Prada ‘chandelier” shoes I wrote about last month are any better in person than they appeared on the catwalk, I present the evidence above.

This is a slightly different shoe to the one I showed you in April, and is thankfully missing the Velcro strap, but while I did think they looked a little more expensive in person, and a lot of work has obviously gone into making them, I still don’t think they look like $700 shoes. I bet they make a lot of noise when you walk in them, too…

Miu Miu black snakeskin studded t-strap platform sandals

miu miu snakeskin platforms Miu Miu black snakeskin studded t strap platform sandalsMiu Miu just didn’t hold back with this one, did they?

Of course, this IS Miu Miu we’re talking about. Restraint just isn’t something we’d normally associate with the brand, so I guess black snakeskin, studs and jewels are nothing out of the ordinary here: and that’s just the uppers I’m talking about. The heel is another matter altogether:

See what I mean?

Typically Miu Miu, typically extravagant and typically expensive, these are $716 at Bluefly. What do you think of them?

Red suede bow shoes by Cocoeve

red sude bow shoes Red suede bow shoes by CocoeveAren’t these cute?

Sure, they’re red suede shoes with a bow on the toe, and it’s not like we’ve never seen that done before, but these still manage to seem out of the ordinary, and they do it by adding an extra-thick t-bar, which somehow gives the shoes a straight-out-of-a-fairytale look to them.

These are just $42, which tells you they’re not real suede, but simply suede-effect. I’ve no idea what the quality will be like, but if you’d like to find out, you can buy a pair here.

Guess buckle detail platform sandals

guess buckle detail sandals Guess buckle detail platform sandalsI first spotted these shoes a couple of weeks ago, and wasn’t totally sure how I felt about them as they’re a little chunkier than I’d normally like. The more I look at them, however, the more I like them, and I’m sure the tan and beige colour combination has something to do with that: it’s the perfect choice for a wood-soled platform, and the shoes have a “resort wear” look about them that appeals to me.

These would be great with something like pale linen, or even denim, and they’re £194 at Far Fetch.

Shoeperwoman’s Capsule Shoe Challenge!

holiday shoes1 Shoeperwomans Capsule Shoe Challenge!

Four pairs of shoes. That’s what I’m packing for my trip to Florida next week. It’s probably about three pairs more than I’ll actually need, but in my defence:

1) two of the pairs of shoes in question are very lightweight (the flats and flip-flops), so they’ll hardly take up any room in my suitcase, or add much to the weight of it.

2) I’ll be wearing one of the two heavier pairs to the airport (I always maximise my luggage allowance by wearing my heaviest shoes to check in, and then changing into a pair of flats once I’m on the plane, or approaching security).

I now have a new challenge on my hands, though. Unlike my Shoeper Shoe Challenge, in which I have to wear as many different pairs of shoes as I can in the space of a year, this challenge will force me to wear the same four pairs of shoes over and over again for the next three weeks. Of course, I WILL probably buy at least one new pair of shoes while I’m away, so this challenge will become progressively easier as time goes by, but, well, let’s see how I get on.

In selecting which shoes to pack, I always try to stick to a colour scheme, and only take shoes that will work with everything in my suitcase. For this trip it was reasonably easy because I’ve been to Florida more than a dozen times, so I know exactly what to expect (I know, for instance, that I won’t be needing dress shoes, and if I DO find myself in need of some, I can always buy a pair there), so my capsule shoe collection includes:
