    Miu Miu glitter wedge sandals

miu miu glitter sandals Miu Miu glitter wedge sandalsTrust Miu Miu to add glitter to a summery sandal!

The shape of these shoes, plus the low, tan coloured wedge, says “picnic in the park” to me, but the glittery uppers seem to want to toss the picnic aside and have a glitzy party in the park instead. Strangely, though, the combination works, and I think these could be great shoes for summer, with the heel making them a comfortable alternative to stilettos, while all that glitter ensures they’ll never be ignored.

These are $545 at Bergdorf Goodman.

Katy Perry wears shoes two sizes too small

LFI KIDSCHOICE026 Katy Perry wears shoes two sizes too smallHands up if you’ve ever loved a pair of shoes so much you’ve been prepared to try and cram your feet into the last pair available…which just happen to be a size or two too small?I know I have,  and although I’ve tried everything to make those too-small shoes fit (newspaper, wearing them around the house with thick socks, buying a shoe stretcher…) in the end, the pain just isn’t worth it, so these days if the shoe doesn’t fit… well, I just don’t get to wear it.

Katy Perry, however, is made of sterner stuff than me. She loved the Jimmy Choo light-up heels I showed you a few weeks ago so much that she wore a pair that were two sizes too small. “These shoes are two sizes too small, but God, it’s worth it,” she told the New York Post. I hope she at least had a comfortable pair of flats in her handbag!

Ankle socks and heels: Sophie Ellis-Bextor loves the look, but do you?

LFI SAMSUNGPARTY002 Ankle socks and heels: Sophie Ellis Bextor loves the look, but do you?

What does everyone think of the pairing of socks and heels?

In general, I’ve always felt that, if you’re past a certain age, ankle socks really belong under trousers. Sure, the very young, and very trendy can often get away with them – and even look good in them – but on the rest of us? We’re going to look like overgrown toddlers, aren’t we? Sad, but true.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, however, clearly disagrees: she wore the outfit above  to a Samsung TV party in London this week, and chose to pair her ankle socks with white button-front Mary Janes: a style of shoe which can, in itself, be a little bit infantilizing if you’re not careful how you wear it.

What do you think of this look? Would you wear ankle socks with heels?

Shoe Deja Vu: Paris Hilton does Christian Louboutin’s Bow T Dorcet pumps

christian louboutin knock o Shoe Deja Vu: Paris Hilton does Christian Louboutins Bow T Dorcet pumpsGasp!

Remember Christian Louboutin’s Bow T Dorcet pumps, which I showed you a few weeks ago? Well, here they are again, only this time the pair on the right are actually made by Paris Hilton - or by the people who design on her behalf, rather.

This is a particularly shameless copycat, and aside from the fact that the fabric on the Paris Hilton shoes looks (and no doubt IS) much cheaper than that on the Louboutins, and the PH sole is pink rather than red, they’re more or less identical, which makes it hard to understand why Louboutin hasn’t tried to have these withdrawn, as he has with other copycat designs.

As with the Louboutin originals, these are also available in white.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 22 and Ruby Shoesday: Spots and Stripes

shoe challenge 22 Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 22 and Ruby Shoesday: Spots and Stripes

What: Red polka dot peep toes, Matalan
    When: Tuesday, April 27
Where: Mostly running around trying to get my car fixed
With: Top (eBay); cropped trousers (Dorothy Perkins)

Why, yes, I DO seem to have a lot of red shoes from Matalan, don’t I?

Just a very quick Ruby Shoesday post today, because I’ve spent most of the day driving around to different garages: today was the dreaded MOT day (For the benefit of non-UK readers, this is the annual inspection all cars must have in order to be legal to drive), and of course my beloved old banger failed, which meant we had to find another garage who can do the repairs it needs to pass the test. So, a fun Tuesday, basically, and I’m guessing probably an expensive one, too. I don’t have the quote yet for repairs, but don’t car parts ALWAYS seem to cost the earth? Sigh.

Anyway, because of all of these fun times, I’m now really behind with work and only had time to snap a couple of quick pictures. I think of these as my Minnie Mouse shoes. And yes, they have polka dots on them. OF COURSE they do!

p.s. Can you believe this top was advertised as a DRESS? I mean, I’m only 5″3, but the fact I can tuck it into my trousers without any excess fabric to worry about speaks volumes!

Pretty Ballerina’s ‘Rosario’ zebra-print flats with lip and guitar detail

pretty ballerinas flats Pretty Ballerinas Rosario zebra print flats with lip and guitar detail

Pretty Ballerinas tend to keep it classic most of the time, but every so often they’ll come up with something totally unexpected: like these zebra print ‘Rosario’ flats, which come with a pair of lips on one shoe and a red guitar on the other. They’re obviously going for a quirky, “rock chick” kind of vibe here, and although I don’t normally like anything that could be described as a “novelty” shoe, these have definitely made me smile.

If you’re going to wear them, you could either go all out, with a 50s-style circle skirt and cats-eye glasses, or tone it right down with a pair of jeans or trousers. Like them? If not, don’t worry: this shape comes in all kinds of other patterns, and not all of them have a pair of lips stuck to the front of them!

Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Gwyneth Paltrow in Georgina Goodmans Love sandals

Well, we didn’t have to wait long to find out which celebrity would be first to wear those quirky Georgina Goodman sandals I showed you earlier today, because no sooner had I published the article than I came across this image of Gwyneth Paltrow wearing them to an Iron Man 2 photocall this week.

Gwyneth has become well-known for her love of statement heels, and these ones are definitely making a statement. Does the sight of them on a foot change your mind about them, though?

LFI IronMan RK081 Celebrity Shoe Spotting: Scarlett Johansson in Armani Prive at the Iron Man 2 Premiere

I absolutely loved Scarlett Johansson’s look at last night’s Iron Man 2 premiere, from the top of that dramatic neckline to the tip of her sparkly shoes! Both dress and shoes are by Armani Prive, and this dress is actually made from the same material as the one Jennifer Lopez wore to the Oscars, and which I loved, but everyone else hated! Clearly, then, I’m a bit of an Armani Prive fan (this season at least), but are you? What do you think of these shoes (and the dress)? More pics under the jump to help you make up your mind!
