Celebrity Shoes: Melody Thornton in Jeremy Scott’s ‘bone’ mules

LFI prezhilton26 Celebrity Shoes: Melody Thornton in Jeremy Scotts bone mulesRemember those Jeremy Scott bone mules I showed you a couple of months ago? Well, I finally managed to catch someone in the act of wearing them! This is Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, seen wearing the shoes to Perez Hilton’s 32nd birthday party this weekend. The theme was Carn-Evil, and some of the guests took the “dress up” theme very literally, but Melody sensibly chose to let the shoes do the talking, pairing them with a little black dress and, er, a pair of fingerless Chanel gloves.

I know I probably shouldn’t, but I can’t help quite liking these shoes. Does the sight of them on a foot change your mind about them at all?

Rihanna wears socks and stilettos to the 2010 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards

LFI KIDSCHOICE033 1 Rihanna wears socks and stilettos to the 2010 Nickelodeons Kids Choice Awards

So, what do we think about the wearing of socks and stilettos together, readers?

Rihanna is obviously cool with it: she wore silver ankle socks with these gold stilettos to the 2010 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards this weekend (take a look under the jump to see the rest of her outfit), but of course, that’s Rihanna. This definitely isn’t a look for everyone, and while I think it can look cute, I always have to add the words “on other people” to that sentence, because it’s not something I’d be able to pull off myself.

What about you, though? Would you wear ankle socks and stilettos?

Tabitha Simmons red polka dot slingback shoes

You know, I’m really growing to love Tabitha Simmons. In a strictly platonic, admirer-of-her-shoes kind of way, I mean. These are the third pair of her shoes I’ve featured here this year, and the second to be completely covered in polka dots. You can see why I like this designer, can’t you?

Add the red uppers, gorgeous stiletto heel and small platform to the general dottiness, and I’m sold. The shoes, on the other hand are NOT sold – or at least not to me – because they cost £570. If you want them to be sold to you, head over to Net-a-Porter to claim them.

Pink floral tie clogs from Miss Selfridge

miss selfridge clogs Pink floral tie clogs from Miss SelfridgeI’ve been firmly on the fence about the clog trend that’s been… well, “sweeping” would probably be too strong a word here, so let’s just say creeping through the world of fashion this season. Traditional, low-heeled clogs just don’t do it for me, but I’m not adverse to some of the high heeled versions, and actually have fond memories of a pair of black heeled clogs (with peep toes, natch.) which I wore to death a few years ago, and which were one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I ever owned. They were from Barratts. I really miss them.

Anyway! Where was I? Oh yes, these pink sandals from Miss Selfridge, which are being described as “clogs” on account of the wooden heels/soles and the rivets on the platform. I’m not even a little bit on the fence about these: in fact, I’ve climbed right over the fence, and I’m sitting in the Pink Clog Camp. And guess what I’m wearing on my feet? Yup, I really like these, from the pale pink colour, which will help to perform the illusion of elongation on the leg, to the cute little floral print bows, which just scream “summer”.

These are £45, and they’re available at Miss Selfridge. What do you think?

Versace Intrecciata metal platform sandals and python cutout boots

Wow. Those are some heels, no?

As much as I love my heels, I have to admit that even I baulk slightly at the thought of trying to walk in these two shoes from Versace’s Spring/Summer collection, although I’d love to give it a go, if only to find out what it’s like to be tall for once. The heels on both styles come in at 7 inches: the platforms, meanwhile, are 3″, making them taller than some stilettos.  I reckon they’re probably amongst the highest “fashion” shoes around at the moment (by which I mean simply “non-fetish wear, and not designed for actual strippers”), and although the boots have already appeared in a few fashion editorials, I’ll be curious to see how many people will actually take on the challenge of wearing them. I’d guess probably not many outside of celebrity circles!

What do you think of these shoes? Would you wear them? If so, both styles are available at Net-a-Porter, where you’ll pay a cool £1,925 for the shoes and £1,370 for the “boots”.

Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Bow T Dorcet pumps

christian louboutin bow sho Friday Night Louboutin Fix: Christian Louboutin Bow T Dorcet pumpsThese shoes tortured me last summer. The Neiman Marcus I always visit when I’m in the States had them in ivory, and even if they hadn’t been so obviously bridal, the price would still have placed them way out of my league (they were $895), but they were so beautiful that every time I was near the store I would go in and pick them up, just to stroke them. Why yes, I DO have a problem!

They’re now down to $361 at Barney’s, so it’s no wonder that they’re sold out in most sizes. (Sorry if I just got your hopes up, there.) These would be the perfect evening shoes, so if you do manage to get your hands on a pair, treat them well, and tell them Shoeperwoman says “hi”…

Carvela green patent ‘Athena’ ribbon tie pumps

I’m a bit of a sucker for shoes that fasten with ribbons, rather than with traditional laces. It’s such a simple touch (and a really easy way to give any pair of lace-ups a face-lift), but does make a difference, giving the shoe a slightly more feminine feel.

I’d point out that I’m also a bit of a sucker for the colour green, here, but I’m guessing my regular readers already know that, so I’ll simply note that these ‘Athena’ pumps by Carvela  (£100) come in a particularly nice shade of green, and have a very Spring-like feel to them, although the fact that they have closed toes will allow you to get use out of them all the year round.

    High nautical espadrilles from Next

nautical espadrilles High nautical espadrilles from NextHaving been favourably impressed with Next’s summer shoe selection earlier this week, I decided a further rummage around the site was in order, and that rummage turned up these little nautical espadrilles. I don’t actually own any espadrilles: they’re a style that’s never really held much interest for me, partly because a lot of them can look very clumsy, and partly because they really deserve to be worn on perfect, summery days, and there just aren’t too many of those in this neck of the woods, unfortunately.

I’m still not totally convinced I need to add a pair of espadrilles to my shoe closet, but if I was going to buy a pair, these would be the ones I’d go for. Well, there’d be no way I could resist those stripes, would there?
