Love Label ‘Cleon Island’ platform ruffle shoes

love label ruffle shoes Love Label Cleon Island platform ruffle shoesI don’t own any of Love Label’s shoes, so I’ve no idea what the quality is like, but these certainly look like good value for £29. This is a style we’ve seen crop a couple of times in the past year, and seems to be vaguely based on Christian Louboutin’s Lady Page pumps, although it has to be said that if you click on that link and then come back and look at the shoe above, it suddenly doesn’t look nearly as good as it did before – or maybe that’s just me.

I do like the red/black mix on these shoes, however, and there’s even a hint of pink on the little platform. If you like them enough to want to buy them, head over to Very.co.uk.

Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 14: In like a lion, out like a whole pride of lions

DSCF3926 Shoeper Shoe Challenge # 14: In like a lion, out like a whole pride of lions

What: Priceless over-the-knee boots
When: Wednesday, March 31st 2010
Where: Running errands in the snow
With: wet-look leggings, American Apparel; black sweater dress, New Look children’s department; jacket, H&M; hat, River Island

Oh, March. I guess you didn’t get the “out like a lamb” memo, huh?

I’m not having the best of days. Today is my 3rd wedding anniversary (and thank goodness we didn’t get weather like this three years ago!), but we’re not doing anything to celebrate, which makes me sad. Add to that the fact that I’m not feeling great, and it’s snowed constantly since this time yesterday and I’m not a happy Shoeperwoman. First world problems! But on to the shoes…

I had thought I’d seen the last of these boots (and the coat, and the hat…) for this winter, but nope! They’re a couple of years old now, and I bought the cheapest pair I could find, because I wasn’t sure how much wear, if any, I’d get out of a pair of over-the-knee boots. As it turns out, the answer to that was “A LOT of wear”, and these quickly became one of my go-to winter boots. I wear them with absolutely everything, and although they’re actually still holding up pretty well considering, I think that when they finally do fall apart, I’ll probably invest in a leather pair next.

Of course, mock-suede boots are of no use at all in the snow, but luckily I was only going from door to car to store, so I decided to risk it in the interests of the Shoe Challenge. Please let these be the last boots of the winter, though, weather Gods? Pretty please?

Brian Atwood floral print scarf-tie sandals

When someone says “floral print shoes”, these aren’t the kind of thing I generally think of. They SHOULD be, though, because once you can look past the scarf detail, which makes them look a little odd at first glance, these are absolutely beautiful, and very “Brian Atwood”, with a black and white colour scheme that may just be enough to convince even those of you who don’t generally “do” florals.

The scarf, meanwhile, doesn’t have to be worn as shown in the image above:

Looks like you could wind it up the leg, tie it at the front, or do whatever you liked with it. Personally, I’d be tempted to remove it altogether, because I think the shoes are pretty enough without it, but that’s just me.

These are £720 at Colette.

Poetic Licence ‘Date Night’ asymmetric bow sandals

Aren’t these just so cute and summery? The turquoise colour was the one that caught my eye, here: it’s a colour you don’t see often enough on shoes, as far as I’m concerned, and I think these would be perfect with a crisp white sundress. (Maybe this?)

The purple shoes, meanwhile, would also be very versatile, and the darker colour means I can see them taking you right through to the cooler weather of Autumn, too.

They’re $129 from the Poetic Licence website.

Ruby Shoesday & Shoe Challenge ’13: Unlucky

blue dress red shoes1 Ruby Shoesday & Shoe Challenge 13: Unlucky

What: Red Style&Co. bow pumps
When: Tuesday, March 30th
Where: Nowhere in particular: it’s snowing!
With: Navy dress, Heartbreaker Fashion; blue belt, free with New Look shirt; brooch, no idea

It’s Ruby Shoesday, everyone! It’s also… WINTER! Yes, AGAIN. Remember that time I got to wear a trench-coat? That day was “Spring”. We skipped summer altogether, and now we’ve come right back round to winter: it actually started SNOWING just as I finished taking these photos, and I had to go and put on a pair of opaque tights. So much for transitional dressing! I’m now sitting here contemplating adding a cardi over the top, because the sleeves on this dress are too short for winter-in-spring weather. Gah.

Anyway, as fascinating as it is to talk about the weather, let’s get on to the important business of SHOES. I decided to use today’s Ruby Shoesday Challenge as an opportunity to “rescue” another pair of shoes in my own Shoe Challenge. I bought these shoes in Marshalls when I was in the in the States last year, and the name on the sole is “Style&Co”, if that means anything to anyone! Naturally I loved them because they combine FOUR of my favourite things in shoes: red uppers, bows, stripes AND polka dots (although, admittedly, no one can actually see the polka dots while I’m wearing them). Despite this, I hardly ever wear them, although I suspect the Ruby Tuesdays challenge is about to change that!

Remember, if you’re participating in Ruby Shoesdays, Caroline has set up a Flickr group which you can post your images to. And if you’re participating in the Shoeper Shoe Challenge, you’ll find my shiny new Flickr group here, so feel free to join and post your Shoe Challenge shots!

Irregular Choice Kim Oh No platform bow shoes

irregular choce kim oh no Irregular Choice Kim Oh No platform bow shoes

I know these shoes are every bit as chunky as the last pair of Irregular Choice shoes I showed you (and which I dismissed as being TOO chunky), but these ones have won me over. The style is called Kim Oh No, and with their bright red uppers, white polka dots, and cute little bow detail, it seems to me that you couldn’t possibly fail to smile while you were wearing these: and make passers-by smile, too. Or possibly laugh. Who cares, though? These are just so much fun, and you’ll notice I’ve managed to squeeze in a sneaky little heart-print shoe here, too.

These are £79.99 at Irregular Choice.

KG by Kurt Geiger red bow ‘Echinacea’ platform shoes

kurt geiger red bow shoes KG by Kurt Geiger red bow Echinacea platform shoesI’ve been aware of these shoes for what feels like a while now, so I was surprised to find I haven’t ever featured them here. Perhaps I’ve been suffering from a temporary case of “bow blindness” or something. (Yeah, I know: AS IF.)

Anyway, these Kurt Geiger platforms are bright red, and have one of the biggest bows I’ve ever seen on a shoe, so naturally you’d assume I’d be salivating at the very sight of them. You would assume wrong, there, though, because these bows are too big even for me, although I’m fickle enough that I could probably be persuaded by them if I found them on sale, in my size – an event almost as likely as the earth suddenly starting to revolve around the moon, or me deciding to buy a pair of Crocs.

What do you think of these shoes?

Marc Jacobs black velvet and patent sandals

marc jacobs black sandals Marc Jacobs black velvet and patent sandalsThese shoes have a real “super-villain” feel to them, no?

I realise that as a Shoe Superhero, I’m morally obliged to make super-villains my mortal enemies, no questions asked, but I just can’t do it in this case. I probably wouldn’t wear these sandals (I have a feeling they’d look a little odd on an actual foot), but they make such a striking silhouette that I actually find myself quite charmed by them.

If you do too, they’re by Marc Jacobs, and they’re £420 at Colette.
