Fendi black and white swirl suede pumps

At first glance, I though these were two different shoes. Happily, that turned out not to be the case: instead, it’s just a two-tone design, with black to the outside of the shoe and white on the inside. It’s certainly an interesting idea, but depending on how you stand, it WILL still run the risk of making you look like you put on two odd shoes by mistake – that’s how the Net-a-Porter model looks to me, but you, of course, may see these differently. If you do, they’re £470 and you can get them here.

Giuseppe Zanotti stars and stripes peep toes

I’ve never liked the look of flags on shoes – or on any other clothing, really. I think the print has the power to make anything look instantly cheaper, and these Giuseppe Zanotti peep toes certainly don’t look like $554 worth of shoe to me.

Zanotti himself isn’t American, so presumably he’s working on the assumption that those who are will come over all patriotic at the sight of these, and want to wear their flag on their feet. Is he right? If you think so, you can buy these at Zappos.

    Alexander McQueen heart peep toes

alexander mcqueen heart pee Alexander McQueen heart peep toesThey’re not a new style, but I was actually quite surprised to realise that Alexander McQueen’s heart peep toes hadn’t yet appeared here, so here they are! This black patent and bright yellow version is currently available at Net-a-Porter, where they’re selling for £375. I much preferred the bright red version that was released earlier this year, but those are much harder to come by these days, so if you really want to see your toes peep through a heart (now there’s a strange image, if ever I heard one!) these could be your best bet!

Sequin embellished flats/khussa shoes from River Island

khussa shoes Sequin embellished flats/khussa shoes from River Island

The shape of these shoes is really similar to the Indian khussa shoes I used to wear constantly a few years ago. I used to buy them from eBay and wear them around the house as “slippers”, although I’d happily wear them outdoors on dry summer days, too. They’re comfortable, but still look stylish, and I absolutely loved them: I know a lot of people like to wear the silver, gold or white versions as wedding shoes, too.

Time passed, though, and the hundreds of pairs of khussas available slowly dwindled. I haven’t owned a pair for a few years now, but these versions of the style from River Island have reminded me to have a look for them. The pairs I used to buy came in all the colours of the rainbow, and with beautiful embroidery or sequins on them. These ones, meanwhile, come in silver or red – they’re £24.99 at River Island.

Going by the toe alone, I kind of loved these Marni pumps. Well, you have to admit, the toes may as well have “Oh, hai, Shoeperwoman!” printed on them, no? They also have that rather nice “Court of Marie Antoinette” look about them, which I’ve been liking recently.

But then I looked at them from the side:

Hmmm. Not so pretty now, are they? The platform is too clumsy, the ankle strap looks out of place… With no platform (or a smaller one, that fitted the sole better) and a closed back, they could’ve been wonderful. As they are, however, my (ntirely fictional) £520 is safe. If yours isn’t, these are available from Browns.

With Christmas fast approaching, I couldn’t NOT show you a shoe that calls itself “Santa’s Sack”, now, could I?

And OK, these look more like slippers than outdoor shoes to me, and velvet has never been my favourite fabric, but still, each to their own, and there’s definitely something very Christmas-y about them. Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing, I’ll leave up to you to decide.

Roberto Cavalli chain detail gold sandals

robrto cavali chain detail Roberto Cavalli chain detail gold sandalsWow, they really weren’t joking about the “chain detail” on these, were they? When you see those words in a product description, you can usually expect a small chain (or picture of one) somewhere on the shoe in question, but these look more like the kind of thing you’d use to lock up the family silver if you were feeling really, really paranoid.

Are they the kind of thing you’d want to drape around your ankles, though, like some kind of designer shoe-wearing salve girl? If so, they’re £725 at Net-a-Porter.

    Carevla ‘Arrogant’ multicolour platforms

“Arrogant” or not, despite having commented a few times now about being “over” gigantic platforms, these shoes by Carvela still managed to put a smile on my face when I found them. Black pumps are so often accused of being boring (Although I beg to differ there), but these ones have been enlivened by a pink/blue/orange platform. Those aren’t three colours I’d generally put together, but in this small a dose, I think they work pretty well. You, on the other hand, may find you prefer the blue/turquoise mix, and if you do, you’ll find them here.
