Well, everyone, it’s almost the end of the year, which means it’s time for me to take off my superhero boots and slip into my party shoes to celebrate the New Year.
Before I go, I just wanted to say a quick thank-you to all of my regular readers, and everyone who’s supported Shoeperwoman.com over its first year online. I hope you all have a wonderful New Year no matter what you’re doing – and that 2010 is filled with lots and lots of shoes!
Christmas may be over, but if you happen to be looking for a pair of party shoes to celebrate the New Year in, er, style, how about these crystal-studded heels by Miu Miu?
Just a tad ostentatious, you say?
Yup, that’s what I thought, too.
If “ostentatious” is what you’re after, though, these are $645 from Neiman Marcus.
I mostly love Valentino for the brand’s masterful use of the BOW on shoes, but these flower-fronted peep toes also take a bit of beating, no? Even without the embellishment, these would be a lovely pair of red peep toes, but with it they’re just very ‘Valentino’ – and very “Shoeperwoman”, too, come to think of it!
(Oh, and also very expensive, but let’s not think about that…)
No shoe selections today, I’m afraid, because I’m too busy packing up to go and spend Christmas with my family. I’ll be back in a few days, but for now a very happy holiday to those who celebrate it – and I hope Father Christmas brings you everything you wish for (but mostly shoes)!
The front of these shoes may not be much to write home about, but hey, look at those soles! Not only is the platform studded with crystals, the sole itself is a shimmery silver which is really rather special. And I know, I know: no one would even see them once they were on, but you’d know they were there, and sometimes it’s these little details that make a shoe.
Sadly, in this case, I don’t think the unusual sole is enough to warrant the $1,295 price tag. As I said, the satin part of the shoe is just very ordinary looking to me, and not even the bling at the bottom is going to lift these into the thousand-dollar-shoe category for me. If they do it for you, though, you can buy a pair at Bergdorf Goodman.
Somewhat extravagant on the flower front, but still pretty for all that, these Poetic Licence peep toes are $133 at Zappos, and available in the three colours shown above. Once again, I’d find it hard to choose between these: the shimmery blue version would be great for a party, while the red suede would make a lovely day shoe, worn with opaque tights. Overall, though, I think its the black sequined version that gets my vote: totally glam, but not too over the top, they’re definitely worth viewing in close-up, so they can be properly appreciated!
I walked into River Island earlier this month and literally stopped in my tracks at the sight of these. I’d somehow managed to overlook them on the website – possibly because they looked much better in real life – but as soon as I spotted them, I was already mentally adding them to my Wish List. They’re £59.99, and in a style River Island have been doing a lot of this year- long may it continue, because they’re the kind of black peep toes I can imagine getting lots and lots of use out of!
I know what you’re thinking, and yes, you’re right: we’ve been here before, with the ruffle, and the zips and, oh, pretty much the whole shoe. What’s the difference? Well, the main difference between these shoes and the ruffle/zip shoes I’ve shown you in the past, is that these ones only cost £16. Not bad, eh?
