These aren’t proper platforms – just “mini” ones, according to the Matalan website. And thank goodness for that: platforms were starting to get just a little bit carried away for a while there, weren’t they?
These shoes are only £14, which makes for an easy answer to the “red or black” question, and I’ve always been a sucker for gold accents on these particular colours, so they work for me. If they work for you too, you can get them at Matalan.

I have these in red and I LOVE them!! I agonised over the red or the black (skint boyfriend was buying them…. on a credit card. Lucky I’m not with him for the money), but decided the red had the edge.. in the flesh they just look a little more expensive (considering the price) than the black. They’re all set to be my go-to shoe for winter shindigs
