Green mega platform courts from Dorothy Perkins

Green is my favourite colour (”No!” I hear you say, sarcastically), so as soon as I laid eyes on these green platform court shoes from Dorothy Perkins, my mind started working overtime, trying to figure out how I could possibly justify ANOTHER pair of shoes this year.

Then I realised that actually, I have very little in my wardrobe that I’d actually wear with green shoes, and I was forced to conclude that these wouldn’t exactly be the most practical purchase ever,  (Not that it’s stopped me before, obviously.) and so, with regret, I removed them from my basket, although not from my wish list.

If you feel you can give them a good home, they’re 338 at Dorothy Perkins.

Well, these are certainly…different. A big change from the usual style of footwear we see on the red carpet, although probably NOT what I’d have chosen myself. They were worn by Angie Harmon to the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style Awards last week, and as you’ll see under the jump, as well as being huge and strappy, they’re also thigh-high:

Without the peep toe, I’d have really liked these shoes. With it… well, actually, with it I STILL really like them. I’m not quite sure why, because they’re not my usual style, but there’s something a bit “sexy schoolmistress” about them, and I think they’d be perfect with a pencil skirt, and maybe some thick tights, too. These would also work well with skinny jeans, and they’re £659 from Far Fetch.

Yum! I wouldn’t have expected to like these shoes – the word “snakeskin” would probably have put me off, because I don’t always like it – but actually, I think they’re rather gorgeous. I love the mix of colours and textures here, and the end result is a shoe that’s unusual, but still very wearable. These have a 2cm platform and an 11.5 cm (about 4.5 inches) heel, so they’re pretty high, and that goes for the price as well as the heel – these will set you back £749.

These have to be one of the least practical looking pairs of boots I’ve seen. Made from leather, satin, and little, shiny pieces of metal, I have no idea where you’d wear them – the shiny legs suggest they’re designed for evening wear, but the leather toes seem to jar with that, and to be honest, I don’t tend to want to wear knee boots with my party dresses – not even if they’re covered in something that looks like sequins.

That could just me, though – if you have the right place to wear these, you’ll find them at Yoox.com, where they’re £490.

Ohh-kaaaay. A shoe that doesn’t actually look all that much like a shoe at first glance. And I don’t know about you, but one of the items on my “things I look for in shoes” list is “must look like a SHOE”. This… well, actually, I’m not sure WHAT this looked like to me when I first laid eyes on it, but it wasn’t footwear. Now that I’ve had the opportunity to take a closer look, it seems to be that the top of the shoe would rise much higher than the bridge of the foot, too, adding to the confusion. I could be totally wrong, though, and I guess I’d need to see someone actually wearing these to know for sure.

What do you think of them?

    Roger Vivier feather-print peep toes

I liked these shoes when I saw them from a distance, but now that I’m looking at them up close, I’m not so sure any more. The fact that they’re feather PRINT rather than actual feathers is definitely in their favour, but I think my own bias against feathers of all forms is what’s putting me off. Still, they’re a different kind of “animal print” from the usual leopard and zebra offerings, and I’m sure they’ll appeal to someone.

If that someone is you, these are £549 at Far Fetch.
